Position Summary

Assists with and performs routine, semi-skilled maintenance and repair work for the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center, including carpentry, painting, plumbing, HVAC repairs, and other general maintenance tasks as assigned. Repairs floors, walls, ceilings, and other areas; replaces window and door frames; adjusts and makes minor repairs to locks, including Saflok key system; makes minor adjustments to heating and cooling systems; replaces light bulbs, fuses, and performs minor electrical repairs; assists with cleaning duties; and helps train part-time team members in maintenance tasks.

All positions in RHS are designated as critical status. In the event of a university closure, modification, or suspension of operations due to snow or other emergency conditions, persons in this position are expected to make all reasonable attempts to report to work as scheduled. If a remote work agreement is in place, they may be called upon to work on-site to serve the MSU community.

Minimum Requirements

• Working knowledge of repair methods, equipment, and tools of various building trades.
• Two years of satisfactory experience as a Maintenance Worker I or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Possession of a valid Michigan vehicle operator's license.
• Own tools required.
• Frequent lifting of 26 to 75 pounds.

Desired Qualifications

Hotel maintenance experience is preferred.
