Work Schedule:

1. Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. through 4:30 p.m.
2. One week each month: Sunday-Wednesday; 8:00am-4:30pm.
3. One week every other month: Monday-Friday; 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Participates in on-call program for before/after hours and weekends.

Salary: Up to $40,800, based on qualifications and experience.

Job Summary

The Maintenance Worker II performs sub-journeyman maintenance and repair tasks across various craft areas, including make-ready duties in apartments and residence halls, painting, carpentry, furniture & equipment moving, light plumbing, basic appliance repair/installation, and light electrical work. Must work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs make-ready duties: drywall repair, plumbing, painting, appliance installation/removal, carpentry, tile repair, flooring, door and hardware installation/repair.
• Assists journeymen and carpenters on major projects.
• Provides quality customer service to students and maintains a comfortable living environment.
• Performs emergency repairs until qualified personnel arrive.
• Reports to work during campus emergencies or closures as essential personnel.
• Drives a UTA vehicle.

Minimum Qualifications

• Two years of experience in construction, maintenance, or repair work.
• Valid Texas Class “C” Driver’s License and three years of acceptable driving history.

Preferred Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Over two years of experience in maintenance and repair tasks.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Physical ability to perform all required tasks.

Working Conditions

May include extreme temperatures, chemical fumes, biohazards, chemicals, and electrical or mechanical hazards.

Additional Requirements

Criminal background check required. Must possess a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
