The City of Olympia is seeking two temporary Maintenance Worker I positions in the Stormwater/Wastewater Operations Work Unit. The role requires a Class B CDL, with Class A preferred, and runs for up to 9 months starting June 1, 2026.
You will perform routine labor, basic repairs, grounds maintenance and building cleaning as part of a crew under supervision. Ideal candidates have at least one year of general work experience and a background in water or street maintenance.
Under immediate or general supervision performs a variety of basic maintenance, janitorial or landscaping duties in one of the City's Maintenance Divisions. Maintenance Workers I perform routine labor; basic repair and construction; grounds maintenance and basic landscaping; and general building cleaning. Work is completed by following clear written instructions and/or supervision. The more routine assignments can be accomplished with general supervision from directions. More skilled duties and responsibilities are performed in a training capacity as a member of a crew under the close supervision of a more experienced employee.
The Public Works Department has openings for 2 temporary Maintenance Worker I positions in the Stormwater/Wastewater Operations Work Unit. This position requires a CDL. The minimum is a Class B CDL, Class A preferred. The anticipated start date is June 1, 2026 These temporary positions will last no more than 9 months.
