Job summary

Volunteers of America–Greater New York is seeking a Maintenance I Porter in Brooklyn, NY to perform cleaning, minor repairs and general upkeep. The role supports Stockholm Family Residence, a transitional family shelter, and requires ensuring clean, safe spaces for residents and staff.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred; good communications skills.
• Experience in building maintenance is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Clean all areas and dispose of garbage in accordance with the facility schedule.
• Provide general interior and exterior maintenance (examples: floor stripping, power washing, painting, lightbulb changing).
• Maintain the facility landscape and perimeter (examples: lawn mowing, shrub trimming, snow removal, debris removal).
• Assemble furniture and equipment and maintain in working condition.
• Complete work orders in a timely manner.
• Accept and transport deliveries of supplies, furniture, and other program materials.
• Assist in inventory control.
• Be available and provide back-up in emergency situations.

Minimum Qualifications
