Job description

The Maintenance Worker provides a variety of skilled maintenance work to support Public Works to ensure the safety and security of County residents and visitors.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Three years of full-time work experience in highway/road or park maintenance, including operation of various motorized equipment
• Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Air Brake designation, not suspended, canceled, or revoked

Must obtain and maintain a Class A CDL with 5th wheel Tractor-Trailer, Manual Transmission, and Tanker Vehicle endorsements within six months of employment, at the employee’s expense.

The finalist will be required to pass a drug test, physical exam, criminal background check, driver's license verification, and DOT Drug/Alcohol testing, all at County expense, before employment begins.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE:

• Over 3 years of full-time work in highway/road or park maintenance involving motorized equipment
• Valid Class B or Class A CDL with Air Brake designation, not suspended or revoked
• Experience in snow plowing on various roads and privately owned streets
• Experience operating equipment like tandem or single axle plows, skid steer loaders, tractors, front-end loaders, and others listed

SELECTION TECHNIQUE:

Candidates will be rated based on application materials and top candidates forwarded for further consideration.

HOURS / DAYS:

7:00 am - 3:30 pm, Monday – Friday, 40 hours/week. Schedule may change based on department needs.

ANTICIPATED PAY RATE:

$26.45 to $31.66 hourly
