Job summary

National Health Care Associates is seeking a Maintenance Worker for its facility in Wethersfield, CT. You will assist with routine maintenance across plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry areas, contributing to resident safety and comfort.

You will maintain grounds, perform inspections on equipment, and coordinate with nursing, housekeeping, and admin teams to address maintenance needs. A strong safety mindset and prior healthcare facilities experience are preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification preferred.
  • Experience in building maintenance, facilities management, or healthcare setting.
  • Proficiency in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry repairs.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently with attention to detail.
  • Commitment to upholding safety standards and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with routine maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry repairs, to ensure proper functioning of equipment and systems.
  • Help maintain exterior grounds, including landscaping, lawn care, snow removal, and outdoor maintenance, to create a safe environment for residents, staff and visitors.
  • Perform regular inspections and maintenance on facility equipment such as elevators, generators, and fire safety systems, ensuring regulatory compliance and safety.
  • Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment, monitoring usage and replenishing stock as needed.
  • Collaborate with nursing, housekeeping, and administration to address maintenance-related issues and support overall facility functioning.

What You’ll Do
As a Maintenance Worker, you will assist with the maintenance and upkeep of our facility. Your work will play a vital role in ensuring the physical well-being and safety of our residents
Key Responsibilities For a Maintenance Worker
  • Assist with routine maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry repairs, to ensure the proper functioning of equipment and systems throughout the facility
  • Help maintain the exterior grounds of the facility, including landscaping, lawn care, snow removal, and outdoor maintenance, to create a safe and aesthetically pleasing environment for residents, staff, and visitors
  • Perform regular inspections and maintenance on facility equipment, such as elevators, generators, and fire safety systems, to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and the safety of residents and staff
  • Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment, monitoring usage and replenishing stock as needed to support maintenance operations and minimize downtime
  • Collaborate with other departments, including nursing, housekeeping, and administration, to address maintenance-related issues, respond to resident requests, and support the overall functioning of the facility

What You’ll Bring
Qualifications of a Maintenance Worker
  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in maintenance or related field preferred
  • Previous experience in building maintenance, facilities management, or related field, preferably in a healthcare or long-term care setting
  • Knowledge of basic maintenance principles, techniques, and tools, with proficiency in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry repairs
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and work independently with minimal supervision, while maintaining a strong attention to detail and quality standards
  • Commitment to upholding safety standards, regulatory compliance, and ethical conduct in all aspects of maintenance operations
