Job summary

Service Corporation International seeks a Cemetery Maintenance Associate to oversee the upkeep of cemetery and mausoleum grounds, perform interment prep, and assist with ceremony setups. You will cut grass, maintain markers, and install grave fixtures while adhering to safety and regulatory guidelines.

The role requires the ability to lift heavy loads, operate hand-held tools, and work in variable weather. Training provided, with opportunities to support family services and facility operations.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent or relevant work experience.
• Minimum 6 months of relevant experience in cemetery maintenance or similar role.
• Ability to operate hand-held tools and equipment.
• Ability to lift up to 150 lbs with equipment assistance.
• Ability to work in extreme weather and multi-task.
• Ability to communicate effectively with associates, contractor personnel and client families.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cemetery and grounds including lawns, walks, and memorial markers.
• Cut grass, lay sod, trim around trees and markers.
• Set up for graveside ceremonies and chapel arrangements.
• Dig graves and assist with openings/closings for interments under supervision.
• Install and repair grave markers and crypt faces; maintain cemetery features.
• Operate backhoe to dig graves when required.
• Maintain equipment and vehicles; observe safety guidelines.
