• Employment Status: Full-Time
• FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly)
• Work Schedule: 35 hours a week, Monday - Wednesday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Thursday and Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (1-hour lunch), weekends as needed
• Reports to: Pastor/Office Manager

Position Summary

The Maintenance Worker is responsible for the care, cleanliness, and maintenance of the parish facilities and grounds. Knowledge of cleaning equipment and chemicals is required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Clean and care for assigned areas including dusting, polishing furniture, equipment, and fixtures
• Sanitize pews, chairs, and kneelers
• Clean floors (sweeping, mopping, vacuuming)
• Polish, seal, and strip floors
• Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors
• Maintain and resupply restrooms
• Stock custodial supplies and equipment cost-effectively
• Support cleaning of internal and external buildings and grounds
• Gather and empty trash bins
• Check grounds for litter and unsafe conditions
• Perform ground maintenance (mowing, trimming, edging, weed control, blowing)
• Perform minor repairs and maintenance (plumbing, carpentry, electrical, painting)
• Observe safety policies and regulations
• Assist with setup for meetings and events
• Work during parish rental events as needed
• Report building and ground issues for repair
• Perform minor repairs or notify management for complex issues
• Ensure safe work practices
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
• Custodian/janitorial experience preferred
• Experience with cleaning equipment and chemicals
• Ability to work independently
• Support parish goals and policies
• Good interpersonal skills
• Complete VIRTUS training and background check

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Stand, squat, lift, kneel, moderate physical activity indoors and outdoors
• Lifting up to 30 lbs.
• Use ladders and climb as needed
• Maintain a neat appearance
