Job summary

Metter seeks a Maintenance Worker to uphold the facilities and grounds of the district. The role requires physical work, hands-on maintenance, and the ability to coordinate preventive tasks across electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.

The candidate should bring a High School diploma or GED and at least 1 year of trade experience. A valid Georgia driver’s license is required, with this position focusing on district wide maintenance duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Valid Georgia Driver’s License.
• Minimum 1 year in trade.
• Ability to lift and move up to 75 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate prompt and regular attendance.
• Maintain school buildings and grounds in top condition to ensure full and productive use of district facilities.
• Assist in promoting the safety, health, and comfort of students and employees in school buildings and grounds.
• Maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency in all maintenance and repair projects.
• Perform preventive maintenance, repair, and installation in electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems; exterior and interior of buildings; school grounds.
• Move equipment and materials within and between school buildings.
• Complete paperwork for preventive maintenance records, inspection reports, repair orders, and labor sheets.
• Communicate effectively with all members of the school district and community.
• Work overtime when emergencies arise to prevent disruption of schools.
• Observe district policies at all times.
• Keep abreast of new information, innovative ideas and techniques.
• Perform other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education Level: High School Diploma or GED preferred
• Certification/License Required: Valid Georgia Driver’s License
• Experience: Minimum 1 year in trade
• Physical Activities: Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities; ability to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials; walking, standing, kneeling, reaching, negotiating stairs and ladders, ability to lift and transport 75 pounds
• Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Written and oral communication; ability to correctly andsafely operate all tools, test equipment, County vehicles and equipment; ability to initiate and complete work orders.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

12-month position. Salary based on Board approved salary.

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Facilities & Maintenance Director or designee.
