Job summary

Haywood Regional Medical Center, part of Lifepoint Health, seeks a Maintenance Worker to safeguard a safe, reliable healthcare environment in Clyde, NC. You will perform routine and preventative maintenance on hospital facilities, equipment and building systems.

You will respond to requests, support repairs and minor construction, participate in safety inspections, and maintain accurate records while collaborating with leadership to keep the campus fully operational.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience in general maintenance, facilities, or building operations.
  • Basic knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical systems.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment safely and effectively.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and respond to urgent maintenance needs in a healthcare environment.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel between facilities as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on hospital building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical infrastructure.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and work orders to ensure safe, continuous facility operations.
  • Support repairs, troubleshooting, and general upkeep of equipment and facility systems.
  • Assist with facility improvement projects, including renovations, installations, and minor construction work.
  • Participate in fire and life safety inspections, drills, and corrective actions to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and completed work orders.
  • Collaborate with facility leadership and other departments to maintain a safe, clean, and fully operational healthcare environment.

How You'll Contribute

A Maintenance Mechanic who excels in this role:

  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on hospital building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical infrastructure.

What We're Looking For
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in general maintenance, facilities, or building operations preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, or related systems.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment safely and effectively.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and respond effectively to urgent maintenance needs in a healthcare environment.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record preferred, with the ability to travel between facilities as needed.
