Job summary

Bayleylife in Cincinnati seeks a Facilities Maintenance Technician responsible for preventive and routine maintenance across campus facilities and equipment, including painting, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, and grounds care. You will perform repairs, inspect machinery, use hand and power tools, read blueprints, log work, and ensure safety and efficiency in building systems.

Responsibilities

  • Repair or replace defective equipment parts using hand tools and power tools.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance to keep machines and building systems running efficiently.
  • Inspect drives, motors, belts, fluids, and replace filters as needed.
  • Use a variety of tools and electrical testing devices.
  • Install and repair wiring, plumbing, and machinery components.
  • Diagnose mechanical problems using manuals and parts catalogs.
  • Inspect and test machinery to diagnose malfunctions.
  • Record maintenance and repair work and costs.
  • Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts.
  • Dismantle devices to access defective parts.
  • Operate all equipment safely per policies.

Description

Under the direction of the Facility Services Director, performs preventative and routine maintenance / repairs on all campus facilities and equipment. Work scope includes, but is not limited to: painting, plumbing, plastering, electrical, carpentry, mechanical, water chemistry, mowing and trimming of grounds, walk and driveway snow removal, irrigation systems, and HVAC.

  1. Repair or replace defective equipment parts using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment.
  2. Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.
  3. Inspect drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, and perform other maintenance actions, following checklists.
  4. Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
  5. Assemble, install and/or repair wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing, machinery, and equipment.
  6. Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary.
  7. Inspect, operate, and test machinery and equipment in order to diagnose machine malfunctions.
  8. Record maintenance and repair work performed and the costs of the work.
  9. Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
  10. Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools.
  11. Operates all equipment in a safe manner in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Requirements
Educational Attainment
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Associate Degree in related field.
Specialized Knowledge/Skills
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • PC skills in Windows based products.
Kind & Length of Experience
  • 3-years experience in plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems in maintenance related capacity.
