Job summary

Barre Gardens Nursing and Rehab is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to perform maintenance, light cleaning, and organizing duties at our Barre, VT facility. The role includes driving the facility van to transport residents to appointments with a clean driving record required.

The position is full-time with opportunities to be on-call for weekends and holidays. You will handle repairs, grounds maintenance, and coordinate with nursing services to support resident care.

Qualifications

• Experience in cleaning, maintenance, or related fields.
• Familiarity with cleaning materials and equipment.
• Clean driving record required for transportation duties.

Responsibilities

• Maintains facility by repairing walls, baseboards, doors, ceilings, mirrors, windows, and removing trash.
• Moves furniture to complete assignments.
• Coordinates daily maintenance services with nursing services in resident areas.
• Assists in terminal cleaning of resident rooms on transfer or discharge.
• Follows supervisor's maintenance schedule and policies.
• Performs routine maintenance on facility and equipment (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, mechanical).
• Maintains grounds, parking areas, and driveways (cutting, trimming, sweeping).
• Replaces burned-out light bulbs including exit and overhead lights.
• Ensures machinery and equipment operate correctly via Preventive Maintenance program.
• Drives facility van to transport residents safely to appointments.
• May assume on-call responsibilities, including weekends and holidays.
• Performs unscheduled or emergency maintenance tasks as directed.
