Job summary
Fort Wayne Metals is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to support cutting pulleys, capstans, and idlers in a HVAC-controlled production environment. You will stock parts, assist preventive maintenance and technicians, and help ensure quality in the wire drawing process.
Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, with preferred associate degree and lathe/mill experience. This role offers a Monday–Friday schedule, with voluntary overtime and comprehensive benefits from day one.

- Lathe and mill operation experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assists Phenolic Technician in daily workload of cutting pulleys, capstans, and idlers.
- Considers and comprehends detail of quality cutting and how it affects the wire drawing process.
- Stocks parts and ensures recyclables are in proper locations.
- Assists Preventative Maintenance and Maintenance Technicians as needed.
- Performs other duties as requested by management.

You will assist in cutting pulleys, capstans, and idlers. You will stock parts and ensure recyclables are in proper locations. You will also provide assistance to the Preventative Maintenance and Maintenance Technicians as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalency, required.
- Associate’s degree in related technical area, preferred.
- Lathe & Mill operation experience, preferred.
- Assists Phenolic Technician in daily workload of cutting pulleys, capstans, and idlers.
- Considers and comprehends detail of quality cutting and how it affects the wire drawing process.
- Stocks parts and ensures recyclables are in proper locations.
- Assists Preventative Maintenance and Maintenance Technicians as needed.
- Performs other duties as requested by management.
- You must be proficient in math, reading, writing and communication.
- You must have mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to read and interpret documents
- We would prefer you have experience in a manufacturing environment.
- You must have a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Basic computer skills.
- You will need to lift up to 75 pounds.
- You will need to understand and apply safe work practices.
- Frequent bending, twisting, lifting, and squatting.
- Must be able to reach all areas of operation, including second floors.
