Job summary

Fort Wayne Metals is seeking a Maintenance Utility Technician for 1st shift. You will assist in cutting pulleys, capstans and idlers, stock parts, and support maintenance staff. The role requires a high school diploma and basic math/reading skills, with preferred exposure to lathe/mill operations.

Education & Experience Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalency, required.
  • Associate's degree in related technical area, preferred.
  • Lathe & Mill operation experience, preferred.
Job Responsibilities
  • Assists Phenolic Technician in daily workload of cutting pulleys, capstans, and idlers.
  • Considers and comprehends detail of quality cutting and how it affects the wire drawing process.
  • Stocks parts and ensures recyclables are in proper locations.
  • Assists Preventative Maintenance and Maintenance Technicians as needed.
  • Performs other duties as requested by management.
Skills Needed
  • You must be proficient in math, reading, writing and communication.
  • You must have mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents
  • We would prefer you have experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • You must have a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Basic computer skills.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
  • You will need to lift up to 75 pounds.
  • You will need to understand and apply safe work practices.
  • Frequent bending, twisting, lifting, and squatting.
  • Must be able to reach all areas of operation, including second floors.
