Cornerstone Building Brands is hiring a Maintenance Trainee in Paris, IL. This apprenticeship role focuses on setting up and repairing equipment, with hands-on exposure to preventive maintenance and process changes.

Ideal candidates are 18+, with a high school diploma and 0–2 years in manufacturing. Training, basic tools, and Windows software proficiency are expected as you grow in the role.

• Ability to use Windows-based software programs
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrate problem-solving skills
• Follow directives from senior technicians/supervision
• Prefer some basic metal fabrication and welding experience
• Knowledge of Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures
• Flexible to work various maintenance shifts

Responsibilities

Summary

Maintenance Trainee is primarily an apprenticeship position with responsibilities including but not limited to, setting up equipment as needed, repairing equipment.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

• Support manufacturing operations by responding to maintenance calls and completing simple repairs
• Troubleshoot all equipment in a timely manner - call for additional support on complex problems
• Learn and support manufacturing equipment recipe changes and control adjustments
• Perform simple to complex mechanical Preventative Maintenance Tasks following instructions
• Start up and shut down equipment per established procedures and schedules
• Enter all work completed in computer-based maintenance program
• Monitor and report spare parts usage including completing parts order forms

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Must possess strength, stamina and mobility to perform heavy physical work with exposure to potentially hazardous conditions. Will use a variety hand and power tools, may drive a motor vehicle and/or light construction equipment, fork trucks, platform lifts etc.
• Lift and move materials and equipment weighing up to 90 pounds and heavier weights with the use of proper equipment and assistance.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk; use fingers and hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop and kneel; talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and sit for long periods, as well as occasionally be required to climb or balance.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.
• Exposure to variable temperatures as impacted by the weather.

Work Environment

Mainly a manufacturing facility, where exposed to moving mechanical parts, forklifts, heavy pallets, moderate to loud noise level, and air-borne dust, powders, and fumes. While working, will be required to wear various personal protective equipment (e.g., clothing, gloves, goggles, safety glasses, steel toed shoes, cut resistant aprons, etc.) based on work area or task.
