Job summary

Cornerstone Building Brands in Rocky Mount, VA is seeking a Maintenance Technician III to support manufacturing operations, diagnosing and repairing electro-mechanical equipment, and performing detailed setups and controls adjustments.

The role requires an associate degree or equivalent, 3–7 years of maintenance experience, knowledge of Lock-Out/Tag-Out, and strong safety/compliance. You will train Level I/II technicians and work overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• 3–7 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures.
• Safety policies/procedures and commitment to quality.
• Available for standby, off-hours and overtime as required.
• Willing to attend training including out-of-state locations.
• Ability to train Level I & II Technicians.
• Intermediate fabrication knowledge (welding, basic machining).
• Able to read printed materials, blueprints, schematics.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair complex electro-mechanical problems with manufacturing equipment
• Perform detailed setup on equipment including recipe changes and control adjustments
• Repair and keep mechanical machine components in top operating condition
• Diagnose and repair electrical control circuits, field devices, sensors, and controllers
• Troubleshoot PLC inputs/outputs and repair issues
• Complete projects adding electrical circuits and relocating machines
• Maintain and repair pneumatic systems and cylinders
• Perform preventive maintenance tasks following instructions
• Enter all work in computer-based maintenance program
• Monitor spare parts usage and file parts orders
• Adjust equipment based on SPC data with QA
• Train Level I and II technicians in complex tasks
• Perform other duties as assigned

Summary: Maintenance Technician III is an Electro-Mechanical position and responsibilities will include but not be limited to supporting manufacturing operations, adjusting and repairing equipment as needed, tracking usage of and ordering replacement parts.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and repair complex electro-mechanical problems with manufacturing equipment
• Perform detailed setup on equipment including recipe changes and control adjustments
• Repair and keep mechanical machine components in top operating condition
• Advanced understanding of electrical principles such as voltage, current and resistance
• Diagnose and repair electrical control circuits, field devices, sensors, photo eyes, etc.
• Advanced understanding of electrical safety and motor control circuits and programmable drives
• Troubleshoot the inputs and outputs on PLC and repair issues
• Complete projects to add electrical circuits and controls, new equipment and relocate machines
• Maintain and repair pneumatic systems including repairs of cylinders and other components
• Perform simple to complex mechanical Preventative Maintenance Tasks following instructions
• Enter all work completed in computer-based maintenance program
• Monitor and report spare parts usage including completing parts order forms
• Adjust equipment based on Statistical Process Control data and team with QA
• Train Level I and II technicians in more complex tasks and skills
• Performes other duties as assigned

• Associates degree in related field, or equivalent related experience
• 3-7 years’ maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
• Knowledge of and experience with Lock-Out, Tag-Out procedures
• Able to strictly adhere to safety policies/procedures and be committed to customer quality.
• Must be available for regular standby assignments; work scheduled off-hours and emergency overtime as required.
• Proficient in Word and Excel
• Must be willing to attend training sessions as needed, including out of state locations
• Ability to assist in Training Level I and II Technicians
• Intermediate knowledge of fabrication (ex. welding, basic machining)
• Possess strong work ethic and knowledge of intermediate troubleshooting
• Able to read printed materials, blueprints, schematics, and computer graphics
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and within a team, including the ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships employees, vendors, contractors, and suppliers
• Ability to show attention to detail in a very fast paced environment
