Job summary

Compass Group USA’s Canteen is hiring a Maintenance Technician in Rockville, VA. This full-time role requires skilled maintenance of electrical and mechanical systems, with leadership responsibilities and a focus on quality and safety.

The day-to-day duties include repairs, routine service, supervising staff on projects, and supporting preventive maintenance efforts. A journeyman license or EPA refrigerant certification plus a valid driver's license are preferred.

Qualifications

• Four years of skilled trade school or maintenance vocational schooling.
• Five years of experience as a maintenance technician in an institutional setting.
• Two years of experience as a licensed Journeyman in the specialized trade.
• Master license in one trade or two of the following Journeyman Electrical License or EPA refrigeration certification, or a Journeyman Plumber License, etc.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Assist in repairs; report major problems to supervisor or foreman.
• Install, maintain and repair electrical and mechanical systems and related facilities.
• Service HVAC, electrical and mechanical building systems and related equipment.
• Supervise and lead a group of workers on a project.
• Read and transmit complex instructions, verbally and in writing.
• Teach advanced maintenance skills to team members.
• Review work of outside vendors and create punch lists.
• Report on and repair discrepancies; analyze building system problems.

Education

Four years of skilled trade school or maintenance vocational schooling

Five years of experience as a maintenance technician in an institutional setting

Two years of experience as a licensed Journeyman in the specialized trade
