Job summary

TRCC in Dalton, GA is hiring a preventative maintenance technician to ensure safe, efficient, and routine maintenance of all manufacturing equipment at the Tiarco plant. You will follow diagrams, specs and manuals to diagnose and repair issues while maintaining strict safety practices.

Candidates should have a High School Diploma (or equivalent) with 2+ years in industrial maintenance or a related degree, and be proficient with electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma preferred.
  • 2+ years of industrial maintenance experience OR a 2-year industrial maintenance degree required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance on a wide range of equipment including engines, motors, pneumatic/hydraulic systems, mixers, boilers, air compressors, storage tanks, pumps and production machinery.
  • Interpret diagrams, manuals and specs to troubleshoot and repair machinery.
  • Ensure safe operation by following lockout/tagout and PPE procedures.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and organize tools and safety documents.
  • Work on-site with no remote work; assist contractors as needed.

We are currently hiring for a preventative maintenance technician to work in our Tiarco plant who will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, routine, and preventative maintenance of all manufacturing equipment and the overall upkeep of the facility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Employee must pass a fitness for duty test, drug screen and submit to a TB test on a post offer employment physical.
  • Observe all company policies, rules, procedures, regulations and perform all duties assigned by management in a safe, efficient, and courteous manner.
  • Ensure the efficient operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by performing preventive maintenance on engines, motors, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, mixers, boilers, air compressors, space heaters, silos, storage tanks, dust collectors, pumps, and production machines. This includes following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer instructions, and engineering specifications, as well as troubleshooting malfunctions.
  • Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Remove defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
  • Determine changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts, using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
  • Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
  • Assist outside contractors, when applicable, as instructed by management.
  • Assist in cleaning mixers and tanks as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and complete maintenance records.
  • Organize and maintain all maintenance tools in order to prevent damage and loss.
  • Organize and safeguard all documents and quality records related to equipment maintenance.
  • Work in a safe manner following all plant safety procedures. Strictly follow confined space entry, PPE and lockout-tagout procedures.
  • Maintain a high level of housekeeping in work area.
  • Job is on site. No remote work offered for this position.
  • Perform all duties assigned by supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong troubleshooting and installation skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Proficient in using job-related terminology, symbols, and abbreviations accurately.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Solid foundational skills in math and computer operations.
  • Effective verbal and written communication in English.
  • Basic knowledge of metal fabrication, welding, and plumbing.
  • Skilled in diagnosing and repairing mechanical equipment and machinery.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a professional team environment.
  • Proficient in the proper use of hand and power tools, including multimeters, micrometers, and calipers.
  • Capable of testing wiring insulation, performing Ohm measurements, and troubleshooting motor performance.
  • Solid understanding of electrical and pneumatic switches and controls.
  • Basic knowledge of PLC.
  • Proficient in three-phase electrical wiring.
  • Ability to rebuild machinery independently with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of maintaining and ensuring proper use of safety guards.
  • Experience in performing Lockout/Tagout procedures to ensure safe maintenance activities.
  • Basic welding knowledge and ability.
  • Previous experience with MaintainX software.

Required Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma, preferred.
  • Previous industrial maintenance experience of at least two (2) years OR a two (2) year industrial maintenance degree required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods standing, climbing steps, working at heights greater than 15 feet on a mezzanine or ladder.
  • Ability to carry heavy loads of up to 50 pounds or more.
  • Ability to pass a respirator certification and wear appropriate respiratory protective equipment as necessary.
  • Squeezing through narrow spaces.
  • Working in tight or uncomfortable positions.
  • Work in an uncontrolled environmental setting where temperatures can be extremely cold, hot or humid depending on the outside temperatures.
  • Work in an environment where there can be unexpected, sudden loud noises, beeping backup alarms, flashing lights and sudden movements.

Work Schedule

  • Monday-Friday 7:00 am to 3:00 pm.
  • Overtime required as business needs dictate.
  • Work environment is on site. Remote work not offered for this position.

Pay

  • $23.00 to $28.00 per hour based on ability and experience in a related field.
