Job summary

PPG Industries, Inc. is hiring a Maintenance Technician for the Wallingford, CT facility. You will maintain, troubleshoot, and repair production and facility equipment to support safe and efficient operations in a full-time on-site role.

The position requires lifting up to 50 lb, willingness to overtime, and 1–5 years of manufacturing maintenance experience. Compensation starts at $27.00–$28.50 per hour, with pay increases after 45 days and a swing shift option.

Qualifications

• Must be able to lift 50lb on a consistent basis.
• Must be able to work overtime as necessary
• 1 to 5 years' experience preferred
• Basic electrical and mechanical experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
• Basic skills in manual machining, operating a lathe, knee mill and surface grinders
• Capable of using various hand tools
• Capable of reading blueprints and simple wiring schematics
• Some experience in CMS (Computerized Maintenance Systems)
• Basic computer skills
• Respond to service requests in a professional manner, ensuring that all assigned requests are completed successfully and promptly
• Conduct all business in accordance with company policies and procedures, state, and federal laws.
• Must be able to work alone and as a team member when needed.
• Excellent time management skills can easily conform to shifting priorities and timelines

Responsibilities

• Determining and performing required maintenance (cleaning, lubricating, aligning/adjusting parts, calibrating, etc.).
• Performing preventive maintenance, diagnosing mechanical and basic electrical issues
• Testing, troubleshooting, and repairing machines and equipment and ordering/installing replacement parts.
• Evaluates and recommends equipment improvements to improve availability, capability and yield. Performs equipment failure analysis (including preventive and unscheduled maintenance).
• Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment problems. Prepare technical reports to document equipment modifications and equipment maintenance procedures.
• Participate in continuous improvement activities and support upgrades or installations of new equipment as needed.
