Job Details

Maintains and operates stationary steam boilers, pumps, and related equipment such as water softeners, air compressors, water treatment systems, and associated piping, chillers, towers, and auxiliary systems. Performs daily chemical water treatment of the boilers to ensure proper operation. Enforces all safety rules and regulations, including state and local guidelines, to keep the boiler house safe. Responsible for keeping the boiler house and surrounding area clean and up to Jefferson's facilities standards. Occasionally performs general mechanical, minor electrical, and HVAC work to support the Facilities department and building needs.

Job Description

1. Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and staff in accordance with Jefferson's values.
2. Operates and maintains boilers, chillers, and auxiliary systems by reading meters and gauges, taking appropriate actions for safe operation, repacking valves, changing piping, and lubricating compressors and pumps regularly.
3. Starts, stops, adjusts, and regulates boilers and related equipment to ensure efficiency and continuous service.
4. Cleans boilers, waterside and fireside, annually or as required to meet regulations.
5. Performs daily inspections of boilers, pipelines, and equipment for leaks or defects.
6. Maintains records of gauge and meter readings to monitor fuel consumption, steam production, water temperatures, and pressures.
7. Consults with and updates the Lead/Chief Stationary Engineers on activities, needs, and issues.
8. Performs other maintenance tasks as directed by the supervisor or lead technician.
