Nestl Purina in Fort Dodge, IA is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic responsible for keeping plant systems reliable. You will troubleshoot mechanical and electrical equipment and perform predictive/preventative maintenance across facilities, unloading, processing, packing and warehouse operations.

The role requires attention to safety, the ability to work nights/weekends, and willingness to participate in a 12-hour 2/3 schedule with overtime potential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required with 1+ years’ maintenance experience in manufacturing or related environment.
• Vocational certification in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical, or Mechatronics is acceptable.
• 2-year technical degree may substitute for experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain plant systems: mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and instrumentation
• Troubleshoot electrical controls systems including motors and PLCs
• Use test equipment such as multimeters, megohmmeters, and process simulators
• Repair gear reducers, belt and screw conveyors, chain elevators, and packaging equipment
• Maintain wastewater system, boiler operations, cooling towers, and general building needs
• Complete predictive maintenance such as vibration analysis and oil sample collection

Position Summary

As a Maintenance Mechanic you will be responsible for the maintenance of all plant systems, which will include facilities, unloading, processing, packing and warehouse operations. You will troubleshoot and repair both mechanical and electrical equipment. Working in a safe manner at all times, you will play a major role in machine reliability and process improvements across the plant. Our maintenance work includes both predictive and preventative maintenance.

The pay progression entry rate is $31.95 with earning potential up to $36.00.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED and 1+ years’ maintenance experience in a manufacturing, technical, warehouse, industrial, military, or related environment

OR

• Vocational certificate in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical, or Mechatronics

OR

• 2-year technical degree completed

Other

• Must be willing to work nights and weekends.
