Job summary

Sypris Electronics, LLC on the Tampa, FL production floor seeks a Maintenance Technician (Second shift) to perform preventive and corrective maintenance across multiple equipment lines supporting government and commercial products. You will provide first-line diagnostics, repairs, and prioritization to keep production running.

The role requires troubleshooting, reading blueprints, and collaborating with engineers, process teams, and operators.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or technical certificate in mechanical/electrical field.
• Minimum two years in electro-mechanical assembly; SMT process and X-ray experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and electronic processes.
• Lean manufacturing/continuous improvement experience preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints/schematics; familiarity with pneumatics/hydraulics.

Job description

The Maintenance Technician (Second shift) is responsible for performing evaluation and preventative and corrective maintenance, including immediate repairs on a variety of equipment utilized in the production process. Works with Production leadership, Product, Process, Quality, and Test engineers on multiple product lines supporting both commercial and Government products.

• Provides first line of support to production floor to troubleshoot, repair, and establish preventative maintenance priority on manufacturing equipment as necessary
• Assists in monitoring, evaluating, or improving the performance of all manufacturing equipment through maintenance
• Controls departmental records on equipment maintenance, repairs, training, and calibration. Ensure that equipment complies with departmental and company standards
• Assists in evaluating perishable tooling, mean time between failure data, and communicates needs for updates as well as modifications for such
• Maintains machine parts and tooling inventory
• Support engineering continuous improvement efforts
• Provides assistance in determining root cause, and systematically solves issues on equipment and end product, aiding engineers, other technicians, and operators

Requirements

• Associate's degreedegree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or vocational certificate in a technical program
• Minimum two years of experience in electro-mechanical assembly environment; experience with Printed Circuit Board SMT process development/support and X-ray equipment used with electronic assemblies preferred
• Good working knowledge of Mechanical and Electronic processes
• Skilled in problem solving techniques and methods (process, product, procedure); experience with continuous improvement and Lean manufacturing preferred
• Working knowledge of electronics, pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanical operations/systems with the ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics
• Familiarity with work standards and visual manufacturing instructions
• May require handling or exposure to chemicals used in the production area
• Continuous standing during daily support initiatives; occasional lifting and moving of material and fixtures over 25 pounds and up to 60 pounds; infrequent movement of equipment with casters in excess of 100 pounds
• Strong interpersonal skills and team building skills
• Strong MS Office skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to obtain a US Government granted security clearance, if necessary
