C-Rae Materials is seeking a dependable and experienced Quarry Maintenance Technician to support second-shift operations at our quarry. This position is responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining quarry equipment, processing machinery, and related systems to help ensure safe and reliable production.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain quarry and aggregate-processing equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance on crushers, screens, conveyors, pumps, motors, bearings, gearboxes, and other plant equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical problems.
- Repair and maintain heavy equipment, including loaders, haul trucks, excavators, and other mobile equipment.
- Replace belts, bearings, hoses, fittings, guards, rollers, and other worn or damaged components.
- Perform welding, cutting, grinding, and fabrication work as needed.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and production issues during second-shift operations.
- Complete scheduled maintenance while minimizing production interruptions and equipment downtime.
- Conduct routine inspections and identify potential problems before equipment failure occurs.
- Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records.
- Communicate equipment conditions, completed repairs, and outstanding concerns to supervisors and the incoming shift.
- Maintain tools, parts, and work areas in a clean and organized condition.
- Assist with general quarry, plant, and facility maintenance as needed.
- Follow lockout/tagout procedures and all company and MSHA safety requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous industrial, quarry, aggregate, mining, construction, or heavy-equipment maintenance experience is preferred.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
- Experience maintaining crushers, conveyors, screens, or other aggregate-processing equipment is preferred.
- Welding and fabrication experience is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to read equipment manuals, diagrams, and maintenance instructions.
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and maintenance machinery.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize repairs in an active production environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation may be required.
- Ability to pass all required pre-employment screenings and safety training.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds regularly and heavier items with assistance.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, reach, and work in confined or elevated areas.
- Ability to climb stairs, ladders, platforms, and heavy equipment safely.
- Ability to work outdoors and in conditions that may include heat, cold, rain, dust, mud, noise, grease, and uneven terrain.
- Ability to work around moving machinery, heavy equipment, and varying elevations.
- Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment.
Work Schedule
This is a full-time, second-shift position. Specific hours will be based on quarry production and operational needs. The schedule may include evenings, extended shifts, overtime, weekends, holidays, and occasional call-out work.
Safety Expectations
Safety is an essential function of this position. The Quarry Maintenance Technician must follow all company and MSHA safety requirements, including lockout/tagout, fall protection, confined-space, hot-work, and equipment-guarding procedures. All hazards, equipment damage, and unsafe conditions must be reported immediately.
