Job summary

The Farbman Group is hiring a maintenance technician in Birmingham, AL to support day-to-day upkeep of residential units and common areas. You will perform routine inspections, respond to work orders, and handle preventive maintenance to keep buildings safe and functional.

The role requires knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems, plus problem-solving skills and basic computer use for work orders. A valid driver's license is needed for site access and turns.

• Complete service requests (work orders) in a timely manner
• Perform routine maintenance and inspections of units and buildings
• Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, plumbing, and electrical items
• Prepare vacant units for new residents (turns/make-readies)
• Maintain common areas, grounds, and building systems
• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and systems
• Respond to emergency maintenance calls (on-call rotation)
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and building codes

  • Electrical (outlets, lighting, minor wiring)
• Prepare vacant units for new residents (turns/make-readies)
• Maintain common areas, grounds, and building systems
• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and systems
• Respond to emergency maintenance calls (on-call rotation)
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and building codes

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (technical/trade school a plus)
• 2-5+ years of maintenance experience (residential or commercial)
• Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems
• Ability to diagnose and solve problems efficiently
• Basic computer skills for work order systems
• Valid driver's license
