Position Summary
Responsible for the day‑to‑day maintenance and physical well‑being of the Ontario Convention Center, including utilities, HVAC, and related repair functions.
Essential Functions
- Operate, monitor, repair, and maintain the facility’s environmental controls, emergency power, electrical, HVAC, fire system, and lighting systems as required for safe and efficient operation.
- Perform major and minor repairs to heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment.
- Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on low‑ and high‑pressure boilers; check safety devices; install, repair, and test backflow devices; treat water in boilers, chilled water, and condenser water systems.
- Address preventive and corrective maintenance for bearings, pumps, motors, shaft alignments, and fans.
- Repair and maintain food service equipment including ovens, grills, dishwashers, deep fryers, and refrigeration units.
- Perform general maintenance on equipment rooms and paint equipment to maintain cleanliness and safety.
- Respond to public inquiries courteously, provide information, and resolve complaints efficiently.
- Ensure safety plans are in place and safety policies are followed.
- Operate equipment such as forklifts, power sweepers, power scrubbers, boom lifts, electric carts, and miscellaneous hand and power tools.
- Recommend requisition of supplies and materials to the Director of Operations.
- Maintain daily work records and perform other duties as assigned.
Experience / Training / Education
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Valid California Driver’s License required.
- Forklift certification preferred.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills
- Operating principles of a wide range of HVAC units and food service equipment.
- Maintenance and repair techniques for food service equipment.
- Electrical practices.
- Effective verbal and written communication.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, employees, peers, and the public.
- Operate modern office equipment (computer, fax, phone, copy machine).
- Operate a motor vehicle and equipment such as forklifts, boom lifts, electric carts, radio devices, etc.
Physical and Environmental Requirements
- Stand, walk, bend, and lift 25 lbs throughout the day; work at the computer.
- May be required to work with hazardous chemicals/substances.
- Move around the facility, stand for long hours during events, and accommodate work inside or outside the building.
- Stooping and lifting required.
- Work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays beyond normal business hours.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
