Job Title: Maintenance Technician – Nights

Shift: 12 Hour Rotating Shift

Summary of Job

Perform a wide variety of skilled maintenance work on converting, printing, and extruding equipment, and various other ancillary equipment, as well as general repairs to building and grounds. Emphasis on analytical skills and ability to source other/outside resources to resolve issues, troubleshoot and repair electrical/electronic and mechanical problems, repairing and replacing faulty components or parts, installing new machines and equipment, performing preventive maintenance on equipment, and maintaining parts and supplies inventories. This position supports the plant by maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and modifying mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical equipment, including PLC, DCS, and multiple systems.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Emphasis on good safe work practices and familiarity with safety procedures.
  • Solid communication skills and ability to work well with others.
  • Good analytical skills and a sense of urgency when completing work.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical/electronic systems and control circuits.
  • Ability to solve mechanical problems, repairing and replacing faulty components or parts, installing new machines and equipment, performing preventive maintenance on equipment, maintaining parts and supplies inventories.
  • Perform reactionary maintenance (repair machines, equipment, etc., when they go down).
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks and responsibilities associated with maintenance of equipment, building, and grounds.
  • Plan and carry out tasks and responsibilities associated with special projects on existing or new equipment or facilities.
  • Assume responsibility for managing projects assigned.
  • Source products and materials and obtain pricing for maintenance purchases.
  • Accountable for parts inventories relative to own needs and replenishing.
  • Perform most types of tool & die and fixture jobs.
  • Miscellaneous duties, projects and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Works well within a small team to solve collective problems.
  • Proactively reaches out across departments to collaborate.
  • Encourages teamwork with all department and/or facility members.
  • Communicates well with fellow department and/or facility members.
  • Accepts training readily, quickly understands new concepts.

Competency
  • Ability to read and understand LOTO procedures.
  • Welding and Fabricating.
  • Machining, Lathes, and Mills.
  • Understanding of machine control systems and electrical schematics.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Use Office software and enter work orders in CMMS software.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.
  • Exposure to moving equipment.
  • Humidity tolerance may exceed 80%.
Physical Characteristics
  • Ability to walk or stand for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, crouch.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
  • Ability to reach and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to endure elevated temperature levels.
Education and Experience
  • High School diploma, or GED equivalent; prior experience in a machine repair and maintenance department, or technically oriented position desired.
