Maintenance Tech FT Nights

USPI Arizona Specialty Hospital is a specialty inpatient hospital established to set a new standard for excellence and patient satisfaction in orthopedic and spinal surgery. We provide excellent patient services and the highest level of care, with the overall goal of improving healthcare delivery in Maricopa County and beyond.

Shift: Friday, Saturday, Sunday 6pm - 7:30am

Job Summary: Under the direction of the Hospitality Services Director and Facilities Supervisor, the Maintenance Technician performs a variety of routine to skilled general preventive maintenance duties in the repair, alteration, and modification of building equipment and facilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Inspects equipment and facility for proper operation and working conditions, maintains routine equipment inspections and repairs as necessary, adjusts, disassembles and repairs or replaces parts or components and tests for proper operation.
  • Reports more serious problems to supervisor for further instructions or maintenance scheduling.
  • Uses snakes, augers, or plungers to open clogged drains.
  • Troubleshoots and replaces TVs, remote controls, nurse call lights, etc.
  • Proficiently uses standard hand tools, voltmeter, and amp meter.
  • Performs a variety of routine manual duties as required, such as repairing and assembling carts and furniture, replacing fluorescent ballasts and tubes, cleaning and lubricating motors and other machinery.
  • Cleans sink and grease traps, assembles non‑medical equipment.
  • Moves supplies, furniture, and equipment, removes trash and scrap materials, etc., when required.
  • Conducts routine safety and preventive maintenance inspections to ensure services are maintained without interruption.
Required Experience:
  • Adheres to dress code; appearance is neat and clean.
  • Maintains regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work within designated time.
  • Wears identification while on duty; uses computerized time system correctly.
  • Completes in‑services and returns in a timely fashion.
  • Attends annual review and department in‑services as scheduled.
  • Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
  • Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
  • Communicates the mission, ethics, and goals of the facility, as well as the focus statement of the department.
Regulatory Requirements:
  • High school graduate, technical or trade school preferred.
  • Six months experience in general maintenance preferred.
  • General knowledge of plant maintenance.
  • Knowledge of tools and their use.
  • Knowledge of equipment used in hospitals.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Can work with little or no supervision, take verbal instructions.
