About I-77 Mobility Partners LLC

I-77 Mobility Partners LLC finances, develops, designs, constructs, operates, and maintains the 26‑mile I‑77 Express project as part of a public‑private partnership with the North Carolina Department of Transportation. The tolled express lanes run adjacent to the general‑purpose lanes on I‑77 between uptown Charlotte and Mooresville. I‑77 Mobility Partners is responsible for operations and maintenance of all lanes, both express and general purpose, and right of way within the designated project corridor limits.

Job Summary

As the Maintenance Technician, you will operate automotive and maintenance equipment to transport material, equipment and maintenance personnel, perform skilled highway maintenance duties, and maintain buildings. You will receive assignments from the Maintenance Supervisor or Manager and may supervise personnel on various job assignments. You will guide and/or train less experienced personnel on equipment operation and roadway maintenance.

Functions Key to Success
  • Operate assigned automotive equipment and construction equipment such as tractors, mowers, sweepers, bucket trucks and truck mounted attenuators, and operate assigned gas or hand tools to complete daily assignments.
  • Inspect equipment for proper operating condition, make minor repairs or adjustments, lubricate and assist in making repairs as required.
  • Perform miscellaneous skilled maintenance on the I‑77 Express Lanes Project as required.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties such as general traffic control, pavement repair, landscaping, painting, relamping, barrier repairs, and be available on‑call after hours for emergency maintenance service as needed.
  • Respond to traffic incidents, provide roadside assistance to motorists on I‑77 between uptown Charlotte and Mooresville, and be available on‑call after hours for emergency incident response as needed.
  • Perform miscellaneous building maintenance as required.
  • Any other job duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or ability to obtain one within 180 days of employment.
  • 1 to 3 years of prior roadway maintenance experience or college equivalent and 1+ years’ experience in facilities, roadway, bridge or grounds maintenance.
  • Self‑motivated and able to motivate subordinates.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • General knowledge of all roadway maintenance operations.
  • Previous experience operating tools, equipment and vehicles safely.
  • Previous experience with construction vehicles.
  • Previous experience with heavy equipment operation and repair.
  • Ability to perform equipment maintenance, facility maintenance and coordination.
  • Valid driver’s license; OSHA 10 hour, CPR and first aid training.
  • Working knowledge of automotive mechanics and ability to perform basic automotive service on the side of a highway (change tire, jump‑start, add gas, etc.).
  • Experience operating tow equipment preferred.
  • Effectively manage tasks to meet deadlines, multitask and problem‑solve in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Team or independent worker with good communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and other PC‑based software.
  • Willingness to accept delegation of job tasks from supervisor.
  • Clean and neat appearance.
Working Environment

Maintenance technicians may work alternate schedules, including weekends and night shifts, and may be required to work off hours regularly. Work occurs on the roadway, with noise levels ranging from moderate to high. The technician may be required to lift or move up to 80 lbs, stand, walk, climb, drive and sit for long periods during day and night operations, and perform tasks in all weather conditions.
