Job summary

Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Maintenance Technician for our Owosso, MI facility. The role focuses on troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on machinery within an industrial manufacturing setting.

The position offers a $4,000 sign-on bonus and 12-hour rotating shifts (7am-7pm or 7pm-7am). Growth opportunities exist across Georgia-Pacific and Koch facilities.

Qualifications

  • Experience troubleshooting equipment in a manufacturing, industrial, or military environment.
  • Experience with 480V Motors.
  • Experience reading electrical schematics/mechanical drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical problems and maintain equipment.
  • Meet production, waste, and quality goals through a quality maintenance program.
  • Install and repair mechanical components, welding, and fabrication of materials.
  • Read and interpret mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.
  • Follow safety and environmental guidelines and policies.
  • Repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment per diagrams, sketches, operation manuals and specifications.
  • Use hand tools, power tools and precision measuring devices.
  • Adhere to safety rules and wear PPE.

Compensation

  • Roles start at $33.76/hr with the opportunity to advance to $42.20/hour
  • Shift Differential is $1.00 for night shift
  • This position offers a $4,000 Sign On Bonus

Shifts

  • 12-Hour Shifts (7am-7pm or 7pm-7am) - Rotating Shifts between the days of the week

What You Will Do

  • Troubleshooting mechanical and/or electrical problems, repairand maintain all equipment in accordance with plant policies and procedures
  • Helping to meet or exceed production, waste, and quality goals through a quality maintenance program
  • Installing and repairing mechanical components, welding, and fabrication of materials
  • Reading and interpreting mechanical, basic electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics
  • Understand knowledge and safe work practices involving mechanical machinery and lock out tag out processes
  • Adhere to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Repair andmaintainmachinery and mechanical equipmentin accordance withdiagrams, sketches, operationmanualsand manufacturers specifications, including but not limited to:
  • Motors
  • Pneumatic components
  • Programmable logic controls (PLCs)
  • Production machines
  • Alignments
  • Use hand tools, power tools and precision-measuring devices and testing instruments.
  • Maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Experience troubleshooting equipment in a manufacturing,industrialor military environment.
  • Experience with 480V Motors
  • Experience reading electrical schematics/mechanical drawings.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic and/or pneumatic systems.
  • Two (2) or more years of electrical and mechanical experience in a manufacturing or military environment
  • Experience referencing the National Electric Code (NEC) or National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) standards on the job.
