Job summary

Georgia-Pacific is seeking an Electrical Maintenance Technician for its Albion, MI corrugated sheet feeder plant. You will troubleshoot, install and maintain industrial equipment, including motors, drives, PLCs, HMIs, and conveyors, while adhering to safety policies.

The role requires 1+ years in industrial electrical maintenance or a two-year electrical controls degree with relevant experience. Overtime, vacations, and competitive benefits are part of the package.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of industrial electrical maintenance experience in manufacturing or military settings.
  • Experience installing/troubleshooting electric motors up to 480V and controls components.
  • Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics; reading electrical/mechanical drawings and P&IDs.
  • Proficient with bearing/ conveyor maintenance and using record-keeping software.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, install, align, repair and maintain industrial machinery for reliability.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance and respond to urgent production requests.
  • Work with motors, drives, PLCs, HMIs, conveyors and power supplies.
  • Read schematics/diagrams and document maintenance findings and hours.
  • Ensure safety by following plant policies and PPE guidelines.

Our Team

This role is an exciting opportunity to join a close-knit team dedicated to safety at ourAlbion, MIsheet feeder plant! This position creates value by safely assisting with the production of corrugated sheets to be made into printed boxes for our valued customers. We offer opportunities for advancement as those openings occur.

Shift
  • Currently hiring for 1st shift (4am - 12pm) and (10am -6pm), 2nd Shift (3:00pm - 11:00pm) & 3rd Shift (11:00pm - 7:00am)
  • Employees must be available to work overtime, holidays, and weekends.
Salary & Benefits
  • Starting pay is$35.50, /hr+depending on experience, skills, and certifications
  • 80 hours of vacation each year, available after the first 6 months of employment

What You Will Do
  • Troubleshooting, installing, aligning, dismantling, repairing, and maintaining industrial machinery and mechanical equipment in compliance with all plant policies and procedures for improved reliability and uptime.
  • Perform routine scheduled preventativemaintenance.
  • Respond to unscheduled production floor requests for assistance to troubleshoot and perform repairs with a sense ofurgency.
  • Work with industrial machinery and equipment including motors, pneumatic & hydraulic components, conveyor systems, and production line equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, replace, and commission electrical control devices, including AC drives, DC drives, and Servo Controllers, contactors, motors, breakers, solenoids, and power supplies.
  • Troubleshoot PLC and HMI hardware, including processors, discrete and analog IO cards, power supplies, network adapters, distributed IO, message displays, PC based interfaces, and operator interfaces such as PanelView
  • Read blueprints, diagrams, schematics, operation manuals and manufacturer’s specifications for installations and preventative maintenance practices.
  • Using hand tools, power tools, precision-measuring devices, and testing instruments.
  • Working with operations teams to identify and prioritize maintenanceand repair needs.
  • Critically problem-solve with team members from various departments to solve complicated and challengingproblems.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, including labor hours and critical preventative maintenance findings
  • Support our safe working environment by adhering to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Provide a self-discipline workethic.
  • Working in a hot, humid, cold, dusty, and noisy industrial environment.
  • Perform tasks such as lifting, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, and/or pulling for at least eight (8) hours a day.
  • Willing to work any shift, holidays, weekends, and overtime asneeded.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • 1 or more years of previous industrial electrical maintenance experience in a manufacturing or military environment -OR- a two (2) year electrical controls degree with at least 1 year of industrial maintenance working experience.
  • Experience installing and troubleshooting electric motors up to 480V, and various electrical/controls components, such as relays, switches, drives, input & output cards.
  • Experiencetroubleshooting and repairing hydraulics &pneumatics.
  • Experience with reading electrical, hydraulic, & mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and precision measurements.
  • Experience troubleshooting issues with bearings, chains, sprockets, gearboxes, and conveyors, rollers, pulleys, andshafts.
  • Experience using a computer for record-keeping and documentation functions.
What will Put You Ahead
  • Experience working in the corrugated packaging or the containerboard industry.
  • Experience with industrial air compressors.
  • Mechanical maintenance experience including fluid handling and conveyor systems, accumulators, valve identification, application, and welding.
