Job summary

Georgia-Pacific's Gypsum plant in Sweetwater, TX seeks a Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician to keep manufacturing equipment running. You will troubleshoot, install, repair, and maintain mechanical and electrical systems, perform preventive maintenance, and read schematics to improve uptime.

Relocation benefits may be available and schedules include two shift options. The role requires experience with industrial electrical/mechanical systems, a maintenance mindset, and the ability to work

Qualifications

• One (1) year or more of experience with installation, calibration, fabrication, and preventive maintenance in a manufacturing, industrial, agriculture, oil & gas, or military environment
• Experience utilizing and interpreting equipment drawings/schematics such as electrical schematics & mechanical drawings.
• Six (6) months' experience with: single and 3-phase electrical repair up to 480 V, hydraulics and pneumatics, bearings, chains, sprockets, gearboxes and conveyors, and precision alignment of motors, couplings, bearings, and pumps, plus instrumentation
• Two (2) years electrical experience in an industrial setting and a Two-year degree in Industrial Maintenance Technology; PLCs (RSLogix 5000) and VFDs experience; cutting torch and arc welding fabrication

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, install, align, dismantle, repair, and maintain industrial machinery, mechanical equipment, electrical equipment, and circuits
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain machinery and electrical equipment per diagrams and manuals; motors, conveyors, pneumatic components
• Perform proactive maintenance routes and reliability tasks to improve uptime
• Install and repair drives, belts, gears, and couplings
• Maintain pneumatic and hydraulic systems and control devices
• Read mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics
• Maintain maintenance logs with labor hours and findings
• Collaborate with operations to identify and prioritize maintenance needs
• Support production and quality goals while optimizing equipment and reducing waste
• Follow safety and environmental guidelines and participate in safety programs
• Assist in reliability/precision-centered maintenance strategies; pipefitting, welding as needed
• Work any shift, weekends, holidays, and overtime

The maintenance team helps ensure the successful operation of the facility by resolving mechanical and electrical issues, recommending alternative repairs and equipment upgrades, identifying quality concerns, setting equipment in a precision state, and understanding the production threshold of the equipment.

Compensation

The Multi-Craft Maintenance role starts at $39.00/hour and up depending on experience. Candidates must have basic electrical knowledge in addition to mechanical knowledge.

Schedule

Monday-Friday, 7:00 am - 3:00 pm, with overtime weekends and Holidays as needed.

• OR 12-hour rotating shifts Sunday-Wednesday with alternating Wednesdays off or Wednesday- Saturday with alternating Wednesdays off
• Additional schedules available

What You Will Do In Your Role

Troubleshoot, install, align, dismantle, repair, and maintain industrial machinery, mechanical equipment, electrical equipment, and circuits

Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain machinery and electrical equipment in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operating manuals and manufacturers specifications. Equipment includes but is not limited to: motors, pneumatic components, conveyor systems and production machines

Perform periodic proactive asset strategies, such as maintenance routes, preventative maintenance, and other tasks to improve reliability and uptime

Install and repair mechanical drives, chains, sprockets, gearboxes, belts, and couplings

Maintain and troubleshoot pneumatic systems, control devices, hydraulic equipment, circuits, and components

Perform daily preventative maintenance routes

Read and interpret mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics

Maintain accurate maintenance logs including labor hours and critical preventive maintenance findings

Work with the operations and maintenance teams to identify and prioritize maintenance needs

Help meet or exceed production and quality goals while optimizing equipment to reduce waste

Adhere to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures and actively participating in the safety program

Assist in the development and implementation of reliability/ precision centered maintenance strategies

Use pipefitting skills to weld, cut, fit and install piping throughout the facility

Apply problem solving methods to identify the root cause and eliminate failure

Work any shift, weekends, holidays, and overtime

The Experience You Will Bring

Requirements

One (1) year or more of experience with installation, calibration, fabrication, and preventive maintenance in a manufacturing, industrial, agriculture, oil & gas, or military environment

Experience utilizing and interpreting equipment drawings/schematics such as electrical schematics & mechanical drawings.

Six (6) month's experience with

• Single and 3-phase electrical repair and troubleshooting up to 480 Volts
• Troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic and pneumatics systems
• Troubleshooting issues and making repairs on bearings, chains, sprockets, gearboxes and conveyor
• Precision alignment of motors, couplings, bearings, and pumps
• Installing, troubleshooting, repairing and calibrating electrical/mechanical instrumentation

What Will Put You Ahead

Two (2) years of electrical experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or military environment

Two (2) year degree on Industrial Maintenance Technology

Experience with PLCs (RSLogix 5000)

Experience with VFDs (Allen-Bradley, Yaskawa, Toshiba)

Experience using a cutting torch and welding with arc welder and fabrication
