Job summary

Graphic Packaging International is seeking a Maintenance Electrician-Mechanic in Elk Grove Village, IL. The role focuses on electrical troubleshooting, installation, and repair of plant equipment, with responsibilities spanning mechanical and electrical systems.

The ideal candidate will have 4+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical and electrical maintenance on high-speed equipment, basic tool knowledge, and the ability to work overtime or on extra shifts as needed.

Responsibilities

• Electrical troubleshooting, troubleshooting and repairing electrical devices within the plant.

• Completing work orders, time sheets, and CMMS documentation.
• Mechanical troubleshooting, replacement and repair of equipment.
• Work independently and in teams while following safe work practices.
• Read and interpret electrical and mechanical blueprints.

Job Details

OPPORTUNITY: We are a Foodservice folding carton manufacturing operation seeking candidates to join our Elk Grove Village, IL team. This job posting is for a Maintenance Electrican-Mechanic with pay up to $45.23/ hour plus shift differential and progressive pay increases.

Job Functions

• Electrical troubleshooting, installing and repairing all electrical devices within the plant.
• Performing breakdown repairs, preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance, etc. on all production equipment, utilities, building/grounds, etc.
• Completing parts requisitions, work orders, time sheets, in Computerized Maintenance Management System.
• Mechanical troubleshooting, replace, repair and rebuild equipment in a timely manner.
• Responsible for equipment and building within both Elk Grove and Westfield facilities.
• Working independently and on teams.
• Demonstrating safe work practices.
• Use PLCs for routine troubleshooting.
• Understand and complete all associated paperwork.
• Adhere to preventative/predictive maintenance schedules.
• Read and work from mechanical and electrical blueprints.
• Plant shutdown/startups for Holidays.

Background/ Experience/ Skills

• Must be able to speak, read and write English. Must have working knowledge of basic mechanical fundamentals. Perform tasks per instructions. Work well without supervision when needed
• Must have experience in identifying basic hand tools. Printing industry experience a plus. Prior maintenance/electrical experience necessary. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of four years hands on experience in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repair of high-speed equipment.
• Basic working knowledge of machine tools: drill presses, welders, grinders.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office
• All types of machinery involved in the folding carton industry. Must have own tools needed to make mechanical and/or electrical repairs.
• Knowledge of pump repair, motor/shaft alignment, hydraulics, plumbing.
• HVAC and PLC programming a plus.
• Must be flexible: Able to work overtime, other shifts, and Saturdays/Sundays when needed.

Safe Quality Food Responsibilities

• Follow all Plant rules, Processes, Hygiene, and Allergens procedures, related to production of Safe Quality Foods.
• Report to person of authority to record any potentially unsafe conditions which may result in unsafe foods or noncompliance to SQF related procedures.
• Participate in SQF Root Cause and Corrective Actions (from customer complaints, SQF audits, validation, and verification activities) as required.
• Follow all procedures related to producing Safe Quality Foods (SQF).
• Report any potentially unsafe SQF conditions or customer complaints to a person of authority to record and/or correct the situation.
