Job summary

Placements24 partners with a client to recruit a Field Service Technician who will maintain and repair energy equipment in Welkom, Free State. You will travel to various sites, diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, and perform preventative maintenance to keep critical assets running smoothly.

You will work independently and with mobile teams, adhering to safety protocols, reading manuals and schematics, and providing on-site training to site personnel as needed.

Qualifications

• Technical qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related trade (N3 or equivalent).
• At least 3 years of Field Service Technician experience in energy/industrial equipment.
• Ability to diagnose mechanical faults (pumps, motors, gearboxes) and electrical faults (wiring, control panels).
• Able to read manuals, blueprints and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections, diagnostics, and preventative maintenance on energy generation and distribution equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical failures, ensuring minimal downtime for critical assets.
• Install, test, and commission new equipment according to manufacturer specifications and company standards.
• Maintain accurate service records, including detailed reports of work performed, parts used, and time spent.
• Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and procedures while working on-site, including lockout/tagout procedures.
• Provide basic training and technical support to site personnel as needed.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and hands-on Field Service Technician to maintain and repair vital energy equipment in and around Welkom , Free State. In this crucial role, you will be the frontline for ensuring the operational integrity of our energy infrastructure, diagnosing and resolving mechanical and electrical issues efficiently. You will work independently and as part of a mobile team, travelling to various sites to perform preventative maintenance and emergency repairs. This position is ideal for a mechanically inclined individual with a strong understanding of electrical systems and a commitment to safety and reliability in the demanding energy sector.

Key Responsibilities
