Job summary

North American Mining in Florida seeks a Dragline Welder/Mechanic to maintain, weld, and repair draglines and heavy mining equipment. You will inspect equipment, read manuals, and perform elevated repairs using aerial lifts.

You must follow safety rules, have a high school diploma and mechanical training, and possess a clean MVR with CDL eligibility. Prior dragline maintenance is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Fluency in English preferred; bilingual is a plus.
  • Five+ years of verifiable experience in heavy equipment maintenance.
  • Knowledge of welding, cutting, air arcing, grinding, and metal properties.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and report mechanical inspections of equipment and record data.
  • Read and interpret equipment parts books and manuals.
  • Interpret technical manuals, instructions, and schematics.
  • Weld all metals and fabricate parts from blueprints.
  • Operate boom trucks, welding trucks, and forklifts.
  • Perform all phases of welding and cutting.
  • Locate and repair cracks in metal parts and structural members.
  • Follow safety regulations and use appropriate PPE.
  • Use mechanical tooling and test instruments.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations.

Job description

We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Dragline Welder/Mechanic to perform maintenance, welding, and mechanical repairs on draglines and other heavy mining equipment.

Job Description:

  • Ability to perform and report mechanical inspections of equipment and record data in forms, books, and computers.
  • Reading and comprehension of equipment parts books and manuals.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of reading and interpreting technical manuals, instructions, and equipment blueprints and schematics.
  • Willingness to use aerial lifting equipment to make elevated repairs.
  • Knowledge and troubleshooting abilities of air compressors and lube systems.
  • Must perform all job functions in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Must follow all state and federal environmental regulations.
  • Use of mechanical tooling and test instruments.
  • Accurate assessment of mechanical breakdowns.
  • Understanding of bearing, gearing, and drive components.
  • Weld all metals and understand metal properties.
  • Read and understand blueprints with the ability to assemble and fabricate parts from them.
  • Operate boom trucks, welding trucks, and forklifts.
  • Perform all phases of welding and cutting.
  • Locate and repair cracks in metal parts and structural members.
  • Perform assigned duties with little or no supervision.
  • Appropriate knowledge of occupational hazards and apply necessary safety precautions to perform assigned work.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Fluency in English is preferred, Bi-lingual is a plus.
  • Five years of verifiable experience in heavy equipment maintenance is preferred.
  • Knowledge of all phases of welding, cutting, air arcing, grinding, and an understanding of metal properties.
  • Knowledge of machine assemblies, bearings, gearing, seal, and rebuilding gear trains.
  • Knowledge and skill of millwright and pipe fitter procedures.
  • Must be able to operate company vehicles while maintaining a valid driving record (MVR) in good standing.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a CDL license.

Education, Training, and Experience:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Mechanical technical training in vocational school or equivalent experience.
  • Prior dragline maintenance experience preferred.
  • Experience in heavy equipment maintenance a plus.
  • Practical knowledge of welding equipment and repair (certification preferred).
  • Clean MVR.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts.
