Job summary

Metalsa in Roanoke, Virginia seeks a Maintenance Technician to install, troubleshoot and repair production and facility equipment, supporting safety and production goals. You will perform preventive maintenance, read manuals and work orders, and use varied hand and power tools and forklifts.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED with a craft apprenticeship or equivalent experience; 4+ years in manufacturing and preferably an AAS in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED with craft apprenticeship or equivalent.
• Prefer 4+ years of manufacturing experience; strong hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and industrial skills with PLC experience.
• Prefer AAS degree in mechanical, electrical or industrial maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Install and maintain production machines and plant facilities.
• Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs during production.
• Perform mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic troubleshooting and repair.
• Read equipment manuals and work orders to perform maintenance.
• Diagnose problems, replace parts, test and adjust.
• Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines and facilities.
• Operate forklifts and man lifts.
• Follow safety regulations and maintain clean 5S work areas.
• Attend FMDS meetings and track maintenance KPIs.

Job description

The maintenance technician position is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the sites business goals and objectives.

Other Essential Functions Of The Position Include The Following

• Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facilitys equipment.
• Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
• Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
• Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
• Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
• Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities.
• Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions.
• Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
• Detect faulty operations (abnormalities), defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.
• Operate powered industrial forklifts and man lifts.
• Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly (5s) work areas.
• Attend FMDS meetings to follow up on open issues regarding maintenance.
• Be aware of maintenance KPIs and countermeasures plan assigned.

Academic and Experience Criteria
