Job summary

Shelley School District #60 is seeking a Maintenance Technician II to join the Operations and Maintenance team. The role covers advanced maintenance across district facilities, with a strong emphasis on HVAC expertise and independent troubleshooting.

Ideal candidates have experience with commercial HVAC equipment and the ability to read diagrams and operate a range of facility systems, while maintaining safety and compliance with district standards.

Qualifications

• Advanced training, certification, licensing, or significant professional experience in skilled building trades.
• Strong HVAC experience is highly preferred.
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing commercial HVAC equipment.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC and mechanical systems
• Perform preventative maintenance on heating, cooling, ventilation, boiler, pump, and related building systems
• Diagnose equipment and system failures and determine appropriate repairs
• Perform plumbing repairs and maintenance
• Perform electrical troubleshooting and repairs within applicable licensing and safety requirements
• Maintain motors, pumps, controls, valves, and other facility equipment
• Assist with building automation and HVAC control systems
• Complete scheduled preventative maintenance and maintain service records
• Respond to urgent facility and equipment problems
• Assist with District construction, renovation, and improvement projects
• Work with maintenance, custodial, grounds, technology, and school personnel
• Ensure work is completed safely and in accordance with codes and District standards

Job Description

Shelley School District #60 is seeking a skilled and dependable Maintenance Technician II to join our Operations and Maintenance team. This position performs advanced maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance throughout District facilities.

While this position works across multiple skilled trades, we are especially interested in candidates with strong HVAC experience and knowledge.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.54 $28.92 per hour, based on applicable

Responsibilities may include:

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC and mechanical systems
• Perform preventative maintenance on heating, cooling, ventilation, boiler, pump, and related building systems
• Diagnose equipment and system failures and determine appropriate repairs
• Perform plumbing repairs and maintenance
• Perform electrical troubleshooting and repairs within applicable licensing and safety requirements
• Maintain motors, pumps, controls, valves, and other facility equipment
• Assist with building automation and HVAC control systems
• Complete scheduled preventative maintenance and maintain appropriate service records
• Respond to urgent facility and equipment problems

Qualifications

Candidates for a Maintenance Technician II position should have advanced training, certification, licensing, or significant professional experience in skilled building trades such as:

• HVAC / refrigeration
• Plumbing
• Electrical

Strong HVAC experience is highly preferred.

The ideal candidate will have experience troubleshooting and repairing commercial HVAC equipment and be comfortable working independently to diagnose mechanical problems.

Additional qualifications include:

• Ability to read diagrams, schematics, manuals, and equipment documentation
• Working knowledge of tools and equipment used in commercial facility maintenance
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Ability to prioritize work and respond appropriately to urgent maintenance needs
• Ability to communicate and work effectively with coworkers, school staff, contractors, and vendors
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
• Ability to perform the physical requirements associated with commercial facility maintenance, including lifting, climbing ladders, working above ceilings, and working indoors and outdoors in varying conditions
• Ability to successfully complete required employment background checks
