Maintenance Technician, Level 2 (3rd Shift)

Description

The Lab maintenance senior technician’s responsibilities include corrective maintenance, preventative maintenance, and new equipment installations within the Design Engineering lab organization. Responsibilities also include ensuring the lab operates safely, productively, and within budgets.

Position Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on lab equipment and machinery such as plumbing, refrigerant systems, PLCs, VFDs, motors, switches, and relays.
  • Perform preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and maximize reliability.
  • Coordinate maintenance with the operations team to minimize testing disruptions.
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions and perform repairs or coordinate with specialists.
  • Assist with new equipment installation.
  • Implement and promote engineering process improvements.
  • Maintain safe maintenance practices and foster a safety culture.
  • Coordinate with external suppliers and contractors as needed.
  • Perform other lab-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Proficiency in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repair.
  • Knowledge of high and low voltage circuits, PLCs, VFDs, motors, and switches.
  • Experience with refrigerant and air movement systems.
  • Ability to read mechanical, electrical, structural, architectural, and plumbing drawings.
  • Proficient in using measurement tools and MS Office suite.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities.
Experience & Education
  • 4-7 years of facility maintenance experience.
  • At least 2 years in electrical and refrigeration maintenance.
  • Experience with PLCs.
  • Associate degree in electrical, mechanical, or instrumentation field preferred.
  • Electrical and refrigerant certifications required if no degree.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Frequent sitting, standing, and walking.
  • Daily computer use.
  • May lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Exposure to temperature variations.
  • Must perform duties with or without accommodations.
