Qualifications

Hiring Range

$43,348.00 - $47,778.00

Hours

6:30am - 3:00pm Monday-Friday, with some evenings and weekends required

Position Overview

This role involves maintaining and repairing City property, vehicles, roads, traffic systems, equipment, and facilities. Responsibilities include custodial services, waste collection, transportation, and disposal, performed through semi-skilled and skilled labor and technical work. Tasks are carried out following established procedures with limited decision-making, focusing on routine activities.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning and maintaining facilities and grounds, including floors, bathrooms, groundskeeping, and seasonal duties like snow removal and leaf pickup.
• Performing basic repairs and maintenance under supervision, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, HVAC, and welding; inspecting facilities and reporting issues; operating light equipment and vehicles.
• Traffic control duties such as installing signs, painting pavement markings, setting up barricades, and directing traffic during events.
• Gathering traffic data, setting up traffic counters, and preparing data for analysis.
• Maintaining reports, records, and inventories; providing customer service and information on policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED, HiSet, TASC)
• Two years of maintenance experience related to the position
• Valid North Carolina Class C Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in commercial landscaping or athletic field maintenance
• Experience using a smartphone
• Availability to work nights, holidays, rotating or flexible schedules, and during inclement weather
