Job summary

Staffmark in Joliet, IL is seeking a Commercial Maintenance Technician to inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain equipment and building systems to support safe and efficient operations. The role emphasizes preventive maintenance and coordination with production teams.

Compensation includes a pay rate of $25–$30 per hour with Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM schedules. Prior maintenance experience and a clean driving record are preferred, with a career path opportunity within Staffmark.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED or trade certification preferred.
• 2–5 years of maintenance experience in trades such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record required.
• Ability to read and follow safety procedures, manuals, and work orders.
• Ability to operate mobile devices and basic software (Microsoft Office, database tools).

Responsibilities

• Complete preventive maintenance and repairs according to work orders.
• Perform minor plumbing tasks (unclog drains, repair leaks, replace fixtures).
• Complete routine carpentry and painting tasks (patch drywall, match paint, small repairs).
• Conduct minor electrical repairs allowed by state law (replace outlets, switches, lighting components).
• Perform HVAC, equipment, and building system checks as needed.
• Conduct site and asset inspections.
• Use a tablet/smartphone to complete work orders, log notes, upload photos, and submit reports.
• Maintain tools, obtain materials, and track expenses.
• Communicate professionally with customers to ensure satisfaction.
• Attend required safety training and follow OSHA standards.
• Provide estimates for larger repairs or projects.
