Job summary

Staffmark Group is hiring a Commercial Maintenance Technician in Joliet, IL. The role focuses on troubleshooting and repairing building systems to keep production moving safely and efficiently, with daily local travel and a Monday–Friday 8:00 AM–4:00 PM schedule.

We value candidates with 2–5 years in maintenance trades and a valid drivers license. You will perform preventive maintenance, minor plumbing and electrical tasks, and use mobile tools to document work orders and inspections.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of experience in maintenance, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or related trades.
• Valid drivers license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to read and follow safety procedures, manuals, and work orders.
• Ability to operate mobile devices, work order systems, and basic computer software (Microsoft Office, database tools).
• Strong troubleshooting skills across multiple building systems.
• Daily local travel required.

Responsibilities

• Complete preventive maintenance and corrective repairs according to work orders.
• Perform minor plumbing tasks (unclog drains, repair leaks, replace fixtures).
• Complete routine carpentry and painting tasks (patch drywall, match paint, small repairs).
• Conduct minor electrical repairs allowed by state law (replace outlets, switches, lighting components).
• Perform HVAC, equipment, and building system checks as needed.
• Conduct site and asset inspections.
• Use a tablet/smartphone to complete work orders, log notes, upload photos, and submit reports.
• Maintain tools, obtain materials, and track expenses.
• Communicate professionally with customers to ensure satisfaction.
• Attend required safety training and follow OSHA and company safety standards.
• Provide estimates for larger repairs or projects.
