Job summary

Dal-Tile, a subsidiary of Mohawk Industries, is seeking a Maintenance Technician IV in Sunnyvale, TX. The role focuses on complex electrical and PLC duties in a manufacturing setting, including troubleshooting, programming, and process improvement.

You will work with PLCs, servo drives, and control systems to ensure safe, reliable production, with emphasis on equipment upgrades and efficiency improvements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 4+ years industrial maintenance experience.
• 2 years industrial electrical experience.
• Journeyman electrical license preferred.
• Proficiency reading blueprints and procedures.
• Ability to read and understand English procedures; test motors and circuits.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot PLCs using handheld device or laptop.
• Design and redesign PLC programs and operator panels.
• Install, maintain or repair electrical equipment in a manufacturing environment.
• Read blueprints and diagnose electrical trouble.
• Perform load calculations for wiring and equipment.
• Knowledge of serial port communications and VFDs.

Dal-Tile is currently seeking a Maintenance Technician IV to join our TEAM! As the Maintenance Technician we need someone who can make adjustments to machines and equipment for proper operation.

Primary Objective

Performs complex mechanical duties and a variety of electrical trade functions in the installation, maintenance, repair and/or distribution of electrical energy. Installs, maintains and replaces electronic programmable controllers in a manufacturing environment.

Major Function and Scope

• Trouble shoot PLC's (Programmable Logic Controller) using hand held device or laptop.
• Design and redesign program and software (PLCs, operator panels, etc ).
• Format hard drives and install to the computers (Computer Setup) and PC application
• Installs, maintains or repairs equipment for the generation, distribution or utilization of electrical energy in a manufacturing environment.
• Locates and diagnosis trouble in electrical systems or equipment working from blue prints , drawings, layouts or other specifications.
• Works standard computations related to load requirements of wiring and/or electrical equipment.
• K nowledge of Serial port communication systems, VFD's (Variable Frequency Drives) and process control instrumentation devices (thermocouples, pressure switches, etc ).
• Knowledge of Servomotors and drive units.
• Continuously reviewing their respective area for ideas and thoughts that will drive productivity and reduce costs within the organization and be able to professionally speak to their solution for improvement.
• Process improvement (Plan and submit process improvements and execute the plan)
• Uses a variety of electrician's tools including measuring and testing instruments.

• Leads projects and completes them successfully, returning equipment to production operating safely and efficiently.
• Keeps work area safe, clean and organized.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Experience and Knowledge Required

High school diploma or equivalent experience. Knowledge of electrical code. Journeyman electrical license preferred.

4 or more years industrial maintenance experience and 2 years industrial electrical experience. Formal PCL training preferred.

Basic computer knowledge (Microsoft Office) Ability to read blueprints. Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems and PLC's. Ability to score 80% or better on the Industrial Maintenance exam. Ability to read and understand procedures in English. Ability to test motors and electrical circuits using a voltmeter and amp meter. In depth knowledge of LGV equipment and operation.

The associate may be required to sometimes sit, climb or balance. The associate may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position includes close vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The associate is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The associate may be exposed to a wide range of temperatures. The noise level is usually loud.
