Job description

Description

The Maintenance Technician 4 is a highly skilled expert responsible for leading and executing advanced diagnostics, repair, and optimization of material handling systems, building infrastructure, and mechanical/electrical equipment within the distribution center. This role plays a pivotal part in ensuring operational continuity, driving safety initiatives, mentoring technicians, and contributing to the continuous improvement of maintenance programs and systems. Key Responsibilities:

Lead Complex Maintenance Activities
  • Perform and guide others through advanced preventive and corrective maintenance across automated conveyor systems, robotics, forklifts, HVAC systems, and general facility infrastructure.
Advanced Troubleshooting and Diagnostics
  • Independently diagnose and resolve escalated mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic malfunctions using root cause analysis techniques and precision tools to reduce downtime and enhance reliability
Technical Expertise & Documentation
  • Interpret and apply complex electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, PLC logic, and OEM documentation for troubleshooting and continuous system improvement. Ensure thorough documentation in CMMS systems for traceability and regulatory compliance.
Equipment Installation and System Upgrades
  • Lead or support the commissioning, modification, and integration of new machinery and systems to meet evolving operational needs and technological advancements.
Compliance and Safety Leadership
  • Enforce OSHA standards, Lockout/Tagout protocols, and company safety procedures. Identify risks, perform safety audits, and champion a proactive safety culture within the team.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with operations, engineering, and IT teams to address cross-system performance issues, support equipment upgrades, and streamline maintenance workflows.
Mentorship and Team Development
  • Provide technical training, mentoring, and oversight to junior maintenance technicians. Support the development of skills through hands‑on coaching and knowledge‑sharing
Inventory & Resource Management
  • Assist with parts inventory control, procurement recommendations, and vendor coordination to ensure readiness for both scheduled and emergency maintenance.
Requirements
Education
  • Required: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred: Technical certification or degree in industrial maintenance, electrical systems, mechanical engineering, or a related field
Experience
  • Required:
    • 3+ years of experience in industrial or facilities maintenance, with a focus on mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
    • Previous experience in a high-volume distribution center or warehouse environment
  • Preferred:
    • Experience with automated material handling systems and/or robotic equipment
    • In-depth understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
