Summary of the Role
The Maintenance Technician, Instrumentation, conducts daily instrumentation maintenance activities, ensuring safe, quality work practices and maximizing equipment availability across the facility. Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate proactive safety attitude at all times.
- Follow safe work practices, NextDecade life saving rules, and permitting processes.
- Maintain a high focus on safety and wellbeing of the team, leading by example to foster a positive safety culture of compliance and continuous improvement for apprentices and contractors.
- Engage and communicate effectively with departments such as Engineering, Operations, Safety, Procurement, Training, Planning, Vendors, and Contractors, upholding the One-Team approach.
- Support and review preventative and corrective Maintenance Plans.
- Review maintenance documentation, including Work Instructions, Job Safety Analysis, Safe Work Method Statements, Permitting, and document red-lining.
- Participate in instrumentation maintenance activities for breakdowns, corrective, and preventive maintenance.
- Support turnarounds as required.
- Ensure all activities are completed safely to a high standard.
- Perform Permit Holder requirements for work execution at RGLNG.
- Maintain personal training and competency compliance.
- Participate in all required maintenance meetings, including HSSE meetings, pre-starts, and tailgates.
Minimum Requirements
- Technical degree in Industrial Instrumentation or similar (e.g., NCCER).
- 5+ years of Hydrocarbon/Petrochemical facility experience in an Instrumentation maintenance role.
- Competent in all Instrumentation maintenance activities.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and documentation (P&ID, ISO, GA, Logic, Control Narratives, etc.).
- Experience with testing and inspection of Safety Critical Elements (SCE), statutory, and federal regulatory compliance.
- Working knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (SAP or similar).
- Experience in reviewing and red-lining critical Maintenance procedures.
- Knowledge of Management of Change (MOC) processes.
- Experience during Turnarounds.
- Control system experience including DCS/SIS, PLCs, etc.
- Instrumentation maintenance experience with flow computers, analyzers, gas turbines, fire & gas detection systems, control valves, etc.
- Knowledge of communication protocols such as Ethernet/IP, Modbus, OPC, HART, etc.
- Experience with Permit to Work systems and writing/reviewing Work Instructions.
- Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Hands-on working approach.
- Ability to obtain TWIC credentials.
Preferred Requirements
- Technical degree in Industrial Instrumentation or similar.
- 5+ years Hydrocarbon/Petrochemical experience in instrumentation maintenance.
Job Site Work Environment
- Ability to wear PPE and operate in a complex construction environment.
- Exposure to weather, moving mechanical parts, electrical circuits, and noise.
- Use of standard office and field communication equipment.
Physical Demands
- Ability to drive, move throughout the facility, and perform physical activities such as walking, standing, bending, lifting up to 20 lbs, etc.
- Visual acuity and communication skills required.
- Potential entry into confined spaces and working at heights.
