Job summary

GAF in Newton, KS is hiring a Multicraft Technician III responsible for safely completing advanced maintenance tasks across mechanical, electrical, and facility systems. You will fabricate, weld, troubleshoot, and support production uptime while following safety and environmental guidelines.

You will develop and prioritize work orders in MAXIMO, perform root-cause analysis, and collaborate with Operations to improve equipment reliability.

You will wear many hats during the construction and commissioning phases of the project, and ease into your steady role over time.**Job Summary**The Multicraft Technician III is responsible for safely completing a wide range of advanced multicraft tasks under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor/Maintenance Manager and must be proficient in mechanical, electrical and facility maintenance in a manufacturing setting. Responsible for assigned preventative maintenance work orders and repairs to electrical systems and mechanical equipment in the plant. Daily requirements will include skills such as fabricating, welding, machining, electrical and mechanical troubleshooting. The Maintenance Technician III supports the production of high quality products, with a sense of urgency and accountability for equipment uptime. This employee thrives in environments where safety, quality, service and cost are the highest priorities and is able to make recommendations to improve the overall performance of plant equipment. The Maintenance Technician III will interact and communicate effectively with all GAF employees with a positive, customer focused attitude.**Essential Duties*** Within the MAXIMO Asset Management Software (CMMS), develop work orders details, and add supporting documentation, reports, tests plans, & schedules.* Adheres to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures while actively participating in the safety program.* Advanced knowledge of lubrication for plant equipment.Advanced knowledge of vibration analysis.Advanced knowledge of infrared thermography and ultrasound analysis.Advanced knowledge of job plans for lubrication, vibration analysis, infrared thermography and ultrasound.* Direct knowledge of optimum lube inventory levels and tracks usage.Maintains proper lube storage, including 5S standard of storage location.* Creates and prioritizes corrective work orders based upon inspection while performing tasks.* Performs root-cause failure analysis and ability to lead RCA teams.* Understands how to follow mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and P&ID drawings, sketches, plans, layouts, and instructions.* Understands how to start up and shut down production equipment.* Direct knowledge of how each segment of the manufacturing process works.* Maintains good housekeeping standards in all work areas.* Develops the continued improvement of production equipment, operation, process, safety, and maintenance programs in conjunction with Operations.Develops the preventative and predictive maintenance procedures.* Troubleshoots, installs, aligns, dismantles, repairs, and maintains industrial machinery, mechanical equipment, electrical equipment, pneumatic systems, control devices, hydraulic equipment, circuits, components, instrumentation, and Utility equipment.* Installs and repairs mechanical drives, pumps, fans, chains, sprockets, gearboxes, belts, and couplings.* Advanced welding skills using oxy acetylene, MIG, TIG, & arc welding processes.* Tests performance of repaired equipment and communicates results with operators.* Adjusts functional parts of the equipment and control instruments.* Performs daily preventative maintenance on the equipment, facility, infrastructure, & utilities.* Ensures equipment/plant safety devices are operational.* Maintains accurate maintenance logs including labor hours and critical preventive maintenance findings.* Uses pipefitting skills to weld, cut, fit, maintain, and install piping throughout the facility.* Uses problem solving methods to identify the root cause and eliminate failures.* Has a working knowledge and understanding of HAZMAT, SDS, EPA, OSHA, NEC, and NFPA requirements.* Attends Operations meetings to catalog current maintenance issues.* Performs periodic proactive asset strategies, such as maintenance routes, preventative maintenance, and other tasks to improve reliability and uptime.* Direct knowledge of reliability-centered maintenance strategies.* Utilizes Allen Bradley ControLogix 5000 software (in a view-only mode) to troubleshoot, repair, & maintain the instrument/electrical, control, & communication systems.* Utilizes Allen Bradley Drive Tools software to maintain, Install, configure, set-up parameters, and establish communication with VFD's.* Promotes the development of the Operator Interface software (Wonderware) for the purposes of maintenance, machine health, and reliability.* Ability to work with a proactive mindset and take ownership of equipment/machine condition**Qualifications Required*** H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required* 5+ years working experience in an industrial maintenance manufacturing environment or equivalent experience.* Competent with the use of Personal Computers, with sound understanding and utilization of Google APPS, and MAXIMO/CMMS Asset Management Software.* Troubleshooting skills for mechanical, instrument, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic systems, controls, and Utility equipment.* AC/DC motor repair/replacement for single phase, and 3-phase power.* Maintenance tools used while working on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and Utility systems.* Sound knowledge of instrument/electrical/control/communication principles.* Repair/replace instruments and electrical devices.* Fabrication with metal and the welding process using oxy acetylene, MIG, TIG, & arc welding tools.* Pump & fan theory, repair, & replacement.* Instrument/electrical components & how they work/communicate.* Capable of using calipers, gauges, micrometers, and related measuring equipment.* Comprehension and use of technical manuals.* Strong understanding of the mechanical, instrument, electrical, utilities, and control system architecture.* Understands how PLC controllers function to control the process.* Understands the Operator Interface's role in controlling the process.* Use of SPC (statistical process control) charts, graphs, and data for increased reliability.* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.*
