Job summary

GAF is seeking a Reliability Engineer II to advance maintenance and reliability initiatives across our manufacturing assets in Texas. You will own programs to optimize machine uptime, extend equipment life, and reduce failure rates while partnering with Maintenance and Operations to drive cost efficiencies.

The role emphasizes advanced engineering, data-driven decision making, and hands-on problem solving within a team that values safety and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
  • 2+ years industrial manufacturing experience, preferably in continuous manufacturing.
  • 2+ years plant maintenance experience.
  • 2+ years experience in maintenance and reliability improvement.
  • Able to be certified in Level 1 Thermography, Vibration Analysis 1 and Machinery Lubrication Technician 1 within 2 years of employment.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite.
  • Knowledge of rotating equipment, hydraulics, pneumatics, bearings, lubrication.
  • Knowledge of vibration analysis, thermal imaging, Oil Analysis, Non-destructive testing, and laser alignment.
  • Experience with CMMS, Maximo preferred.
  • Knowledge of probability and statistical modeling, and prediction reliability tools.
  • Ability to develop, prioritize, and execute plans to deliver results on multiple projects.
  • Small capital project management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Promotes a safe and clean work environment with safety as priority.
  • Manage FRACAS process with downtime reporting and monthly meetings.
  • Oversee preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Manage lubrication to improve OEE of critical assets.
  • Develop action plans to improve lubrication practices.
  • Oversee lubrication sampling and out-of-spec plans.
  • Lead lubrication technician and audit program performance.
  • Develop and track workforce development plans.
  • Maintain and track department KPIs.
  • Audit maintenance practices and implement improvements.
  • Document workflows for maintenance processes (work requests, work orders, planning, scheduling, purchasing).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

The Reliability Engineer II position builds upon foundational reliability engineering responsibilities, taking greater ownership of specific reliability and maintenance programs. This role independently leads initiatives to optimize machine operating time, improve uptime and reliability, and reduce the failure rate of equipment and machinery. The Engineer II will also focus on optimizing equipment maintainability, extending equipment life, and introducing engineering solutions that improve operator effectiveness and expedite maintenance services. Beyond technical functions, this individual performs more advanced engineering and specialist functions within the maintenance department, working collaboratively to establish partnerships with Maintenance and Operations counterparts and engage in cross-functional, customer-focused activities to achieve long-term reliability goals and reduce overall operational costs.

Essential Duties
  • Promotes a safe and clean work environment where safety is the highest priority and embedded in our culture.
  • Manage a Failure Reporting, Analysis, and corrective Action System (FRACAS) process, including weekly downtime reporting and monthly FRACAS meetings with action plans for high downtime assets affecting OEE.
  • Manage the preventive and predictive maintenance programs, including PM Optimization reviews, criticality assessments, predictive routes, NDT, and precision maintenance best practices.
  • Manage the lubrication process to improve OEE of critical assets.
  • Develop action plans for improving machine lubrication practices.
  • Manage lubrication sampling program, including developing and tracking plans for out-of-spec asset lubrication.
  • Manage machine lubrication technician position and audit program performance.
  • Develop annual and 5-year workforce development plans.
  • Maintain and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for the department.
  • Audit maintenance practices and implement changes to improve performance.
  • Develop, maintain, and document workflows for maintenance processes (e.g., work request, work orders, planning, scheduling, purchase req's, work order completion).
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • 2+ years demonstrated industrial manufacturing experience, preferably in a continuous manufacturing process.
  • 2+ years of plant maintenance experience
  • 2+years of experience in maintenance and reliability improvement
  • Able to be certified in Level 1 Thermography, Vibration Analysis 1 and Machinery Lubrication Technician 1 within 2 years of employment
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite.
  • Knowledge of rotating equipment, hydraulics, pneumatics, bearings, lubrication.
  • Knowledge of vibration analysis, thermal imaging, Oil Analysis, Non-destructive testing, and laser alignment
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, including blueprints, schematics, P&IDS and equipment manuals.
  • Experience working with a CMMS, Maximo preferred.
  • Knowledge of probability and statistical modeling, and prediction reliability tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, prioritize, and execute plans to deliver results on multiple projects.
  • Small capital project management skills.
