Job summary

S&L Cold Storage in Mickleton, NJ, is seeking a Maintenance Technician III to join our maintenance team. This senior role requires hands-on troubleshooting of complex equipment, leadership on the floor, and ownership of reliability initiatives.

You will drive preventive maintenance, mentor junior techs, coordinate with managers, manage PM programs, and contribute to budgeting while upholding safety and GMP standards.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of maintenance or manufacturing experience in hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and industrial systems.
• Minimum 2 years in a leadership or senior technical capacity.
• Experience developing and managing PM programs and CMMS platforms.
• Associate's degree or technical certification in mechanical, electrical, or industrial discipline.
• Knowledge of OSHA standards, GMP, and LOTO compliance.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in a cold storage environment (33°F–40°F).
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Maintenance Technician III is our most senior technician-level position. This role is built for a technically advanced maintainer who can lead from the floor, diagnosing and resolving complex equipment failures, driving our preventive maintenance program, mentoring junior technicians, and contributing to the strategic direction of the maintenance function.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN

• Advanced troubleshooting and repair of complex failures across production machinery, HVAC/chill units, hydraulic, pneumatic, PLC, and electrical systems
• Technical escalation point for breakdowns exceeding Technician I and II capabilities
• Leadership of the site's preventive and predictive maintenance program, process definition, task list refinement, and KPI achievement
• Weekly maintenance scheduling aligned with labor plans and operational priorities
• Root cause analysis following equipment failures and implementation of preventive countermeasures
• Maintenance KPI tracking and reporting to the Maintenance Manager
• Mentorship and on-the-job training for Technician I and II staff
• Vendor and contractor coordination in partnership with the Maintenance Manager, Controller, and Parts Inventory Coordinator
• Contribution to annual maintenance budget planning and capital improvement decisions
• Safety and GMP compliance leadership across the maintenance team

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• 4+ years of maintenance or manufacturing experience with demonstrated expertise in hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and industrial systems
• Minimum 2 years in a leadership or senior technical capacity
• Experience developing and managing PM programs and working with CMMS platforms
• Associate's degree or technical certification in a mechanical, electrical, or industrial discipline strongly preferred
• Strong knowledge of OSHA standards, GMP requirements, and LOTO compliance
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. and work in a cold storage environment (33°F–40°F)
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
