Job summary

WL Plastics LLC in Statesboro, GA is seeking a Maintenance Technician II to install and maintain industrial equipment. You’ll work with mechanical and electromechanical systems, PLCs, AC/DC drives, and basic welding.

This full-time role requires safe troubleshooting, reading P&ID and mechanical drawings, maintaining pumps and piping, and supporting preventative maintenance. On-call hours and growth opportunities are included.

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years industrial maintenance experience; or two years post-secondary in industrial technology with related work experience.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have legal status to reside/work in the U.S.
  • Initiative, adaptability, and communication skills are necessary.
  • Ability to work safely in a production environment; physically capable of performing job tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance safely and in compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Respond to plant breakdowns and unplanned outages.
  • Read and interpret P&ID drawings and mechanical drawings; understand process concepts, control systems, and instrumentation equipment.
  • Familiar with centrifugal pumps, compressed air systems, gearboxes, piping, and valves; basic rigging.
  • Work with 24/120/220/480 VAC electrical systems and low voltage control systems.
  • Perform scheduled preventative and routine maintenance on plant equipment.
  • Assist operations in diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment problems.
  • Participate in root-cause analysis of equipment failures.
  • Assist in startup of equipment after maintenance; keep tools/equipment organized.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Plant Manager; on-call hours may be required.

BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION:
  • To perform all aspects that are required to install and maintain industrial and facility equipment. Broad skills required in mechanical and electromechanical systems including experience with PLCs, AC & DC drives. The person must be able to perform basic welding. Perform necessary troubleshooting.
  • The industrial maintenance mechanic reports to the Industrial Maintenance Supervisor at the manufacturing facility.
RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:
  • Perform maintenance safely and in compliance with company policies andprocedures

  • Ability to read and interpret P&ID drawings, mechanical drawings and have basic understanding of process concepts, control systems, and instrumentationequipment

  • Must have experience working with 24/120/220/480 VAC electricalsystems & low voltage control systems
  • Perform work associated with scheduled preventative and routine maintenance on plant equipment
  • Assist operations personnel in the diagnosis and troubleshooting of plant equipmentproblems
  • Actively participate in core-cause analysis associated with equipmentfailures
  • Assist personnel in the startup of equipment after maintenance completion
  • Keep tools and equipment in good working condition andorganized
  • Perform other duties assigned by the PlantManager
  • Flexible hours and on-call work will be required
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Preferred candidates will have at least 3 years industrial maintenance experience, preferably in a continuous process industry or two years post-secondary education in a technical school or college education with a concentration in industrial technology or an equivalent combination of work experience andeducation
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a non-U.S. citizen having legal status to reside and work in the U.S. for reasons other than practicaltraining
  • Initiative, adaptability, and communication skills are necessary for success in thisposition
  • Must be able to work safely in a production environment; must be physically capable of performing job-related tasks and job duties.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Ability to climb stairs and/or ladders.
  • Ability to stand and walk 8-10 hours a day
  • Ability to wear PPE, including, but not limited to, hard hat, safety glasses, and steel toe footwear that meets ASTM F-2413-2005 standards while in required locations.
  • The employee will be required to: read, communicate verbally and in written form, remember and analyze certain information, and remember and understand certain instructions or guidelines.
  • While performing the duties of this job the employee may be required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is frequently required to use hands to touch, handle, and feel and to reach with hands and arms.
  • Use hands to fingers, handle, or feel objects, keyboarding, reach with hands and arms
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus and distinguish color.
  • Capable of lifting heavy objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Regular, predictable, and full attendance is an essential function of the job.
  • Must be available “on Call”, as needed.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position combines hands-on technical analysis and administrative tasks

Time will be spent among office, production floor, and lab areas. A large majority of time may be spent working on the production floor.

  • Work closely with managers, supervisors, office staff and plant personnel
  • Ability to work inside/outside in all weather conditions including seasonally hot or cold temperatures and in climate weather.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to above TWA limit.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Travel is not usually required. Travel to other cities or manufacturing facilities may be necessary for training or benchmarking purposes
