Job summary

WL Plastics, Inc. in Bowie, TX is seeking a Full Time Industrial Maintenance Mechanic to install, maintain and troubleshoot plant equipment.

The role requires extensive experience with mechanical and electromechanical systems, PLCs, AC/DC drives, and the ability to design, fabricate and weld components. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience, strong problem solving, and the ability to read P&ID drawings and electrical schematics.

Qualifications

• 5+ years industrial maintenance experience.
• Prefer experience in continuous process industries or equivalent education.
• U.S. citizen or legal status to reside/work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance safely and in compliance with company policies and procedures
• Respond to plant breakdowns and unplanned outages
• Read and interpret P&ID drawings; understand process concepts, control systems, and instrumentation; work on electrical systems up to 480 VAC
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on plant equipment
• Assist operations in diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment problems
• Participate in core-cause analysis for equipment failures
• Assist in startup of equipment after maintenance
• Maintain and rebuild gearboxes, centrifugal pumps, piping, valves, etc.
• Keep tools and equipment in good working condition and organized
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager
• Flexible hours and on-call work
• Adhere to SHE principles

BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION:

• To perform all aspects that are required to install and maintain industrial and facility equipment.
• Broad skills required in mechanical and electromechanical systems including experience with PLCs, AC & DC drives. The person must be able to design, fabricate and weld. Perform necessary troubleshooting. The industrial maintenance mechanic reports to the Industrial Maintenance Supervisor at the manufacturing facility.

RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:

• Perform maintenance safely and in compliance with company policies and procedures
• Respond to plant breakdowns and unplanned outages
• Ability to read and interpret P&ID drawings, mechanical drawings and have basic understanding of process concepts, control systems, and instrumentation equipment Ability to maintain and troubleshoot 24/120/220/480 VAC electrical systems & low voltage control systems
• Perform work associated with scheduled preventative and routine maintenance on plant equipment
• Assist operations personnel in the diagnosis and troubleshooting of plant equipment problems
• Actively participate in core-cause analysis associated with equipment failures
• Assist personnel in the startup of equipment after maintenance completion
• Advanced knowledge in the operation of centrifugal pumps, compressed air system, gearboxes, piping and valves, and rigging
• Complete repairs and rebuilds on gearboxes and centrifugal pumps, etc.
• Keep tools and equipment in good working condition and organized
• Perform other duties assigned by the Plant Manager
• Flexible hours and on-call work will be required
• Accountable for understanding and putting into practice the SHE Principles

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Preferred candidates will have at least 5 years industrial maintenance experience, preferably in a continuous process industry or two years post-secondary education in a technical school with 2 years industrial maintenance experience or college education with a concentration in industrial technology or an equivalent combination of work experience and education
• Must be a U.S. citizen or a non-U.S. citizen having legal status to reside and work in the U.S. for reasons other than practical training

• Must be able to work safely in a production environment; must be physically capable of performing job-related tasks and job duties.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

• Travel is rarely required. Travel to other cities or manufacturing facilities may be necessary for training or benchmarking purposes.
