Job summary

WL Plastics LLC in Bowie, TX is seeking an experienced Industrial Maintenance Mechanic responsible for installing and maintaining plant equipment. You will troubleshoot PLCs and drive systems, weld and fabricate as needed, read drawings, and support safer, efficient operations.

The role requires strong mechanical/electromechanical skills, safety compliance, and the ability to work 24/7 on-call. Strong communication and problem-solving are essential to reduce downtime.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years industrial maintenance experience.
• U.S. citizen or legally eligible to work in the U.S.
• Strong safety culture and ability to work safely in a production environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance safely and in compliance with company policies and procedures.
• Respond to plant breakdowns and unplanned outages.
• Read and interpret P&ID drawings and mechanical drawings; understand control systems and instrumentation.
• Maintain and troubleshoot 24/120/220/480 VAC electrical systems & low voltage controls.
• Perform scheduled preventive and routine maintenance on plant equipment.
• Assist operations personnel in diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment problems.
• Participate in root-cause analysis of equipment failures.
• Assist with startup of equipment after maintenance completion.
• Operate centrifugal pumps, compressed air systems, gearboxes, piping and valves; rigging.

BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION:

• To perform all aspects that are required to install and maintain industrial and facility equipment.
• Broad skills required in mechanical and electromechanical systems including experience with PLCs, AC & DC drives. The person must be able to design, fabricate and weld. Perform necessary troubleshooting. The industrial maintenance mechanic reports to the Industrial Maintenance Supervisor at the manufacturing facility.

RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:

• Perform maintenance safely and in compliance with company policies and procedures
• Respond to plant breakdowns and unplanned outages
• Ability to read and interpret P&ID drawings, mechanical drawings and have basic understanding of process concepts, control systems, and instrumentation equipment Ability to maintain and troubleshoot 24/120/220/480 VAC electrical systems & low voltage control systems
• Perform work associated with scheduled preventative and routine maintenance on plant equipment
• Assist operations personnel in the diagnosis and troubleshooting of plant equipment problems
• Actively participate in core-cause analysis associated with equipment failures
• Assist personnel in the startup of equipment after maintenance completion
• Advanced knowledge in the operation of centrifugal pumps, compressed air system, gearboxes, piping and valves, and rigging
• Complete repairs and rebuilds on gearboxes and centrifugal pumps, etc.
• Keep tools and equipment in good working condition and organized
• Perform other duties assigned by the Plant Manager
• Flexible hours and on-call work will be required
• Accountable for understanding and putting into practice the SHE Principles

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Preferred candidates will have at least 5 years industrial maintenance experience, preferably in a continuous process industry or two years post-secondary education in a technical school with 2 years industrial maintenance experience or college education with a concentration in industrial technology or an equivalent combination of work experience and education
• Must be a U.S. citizen or a non-U.S. citizen having legal status to reside and work in the U.S. for reasons other than practical training
• Initiative, adaptability, and communication skills are necessary for success in this position
• Must be able to work safely in a production environment; must be physically capable of performing job-related tasks and job duties.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Travel is rarely required. Travel to other cities or manufacturing facilities may be necessary for training or benchmarking purposes.
