Job summary

The Greater Austin YMCA is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician II to maintain and repair building systems across our facilities in Austin, TX. You will troubleshoot, perform preventative and corrective maintenance, and support ongoing operations to keep programs running smoothly.

Candidate should have 3-5 years of facilities maintenance experience, read blueprints, and hold or pursue relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3-5 years of facilities maintenance, building operations, or related maintenance experience required.
• Strong working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and general building maintenance systems.
• Ability to independently troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve complex maintenance issues.
• Technical certification or licensing in a specialty area such as HVAC, plumbing, or electrical preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, manuals, and technical documentation preferred.
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and make sound decisions.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends, holidays, or participate in emergency/on-call coverage as needed.

Responsibilities

• Maintain Reliable Facility Operations: Ensure building systems, equipment, and facilities remain safe, functional, and operating efficiently.
• Execute Preventative and Corrective Maintenance: Complete scheduled preventative maintenance activities to extend equipment life and improve reliability.
• Provide Technical Expertise and Support: Serve as a knowledgeable resource for maintenance-related issues and provide guidance to Level I technicians when needed.
• Deliver Responsive Service: Respond to work orders, service requests, and facility needs in a timely and professional manner.
• Improve Maintenance Processes: Identify opportunities to improve preventative maintenance programs, reduce repeat failures, and increase efficiency.
